Hiboost vs. iON?

03MSPRO - Pressure drop across our whole FMIC kit is less then 1psi. (measured at 7.9psi over the whole system) The core itself is ~0.4psi drop at most. (the tolerance/range for pressure drop are 0.3-0.5psi)

how did you do that? Isn't the industry standard ~1 psi drop across the core.

03MSPRO - there's no such thing as an "industry standard" when it comes to pressure drop across cores. Generally speaking, bar & plate I/C's will have less pressure drop then tube/fin.

Basically, the cost of producing a more efficient core goes up as the pressure drop becomes smaller. Most of the spearco stuff is ~1-2psi drop for bar & plate.

We're very "anal" when it comes to maximizing efficiency, the cores themselves are specially made for us; hence we can specify our target efficiency/pressure drop.

Hence, not all FMIC's are equal.

question, corect me if im wrong, but theoreticly the ion should be way better then the hiboost because its got like 66% more volume than the hiboost does. So why is it that the ion and the hiboost perform almost the same, at least that is what i hear. If there is that much more volume of air it should be way colder.

i'd say the route the pipes go has something to do with it. ion goes over the exhaust side, hiboost doesn't

i don't have a problem with either one cuz i don't have one yet, i was just wondering, cuz i dunno, more volume=more air in the intercooler so it should be colder, i guess it could be a cfm issue too, but then ion would flow better cuz the air is goin throug faster than the other so it doesnt get as cooled down

i didn't mean loaded like that, i just meant both vendors are in this thread, and they're both going to say that theirs is good because x, and then the other will say "yea but..." and so on

maybe HiBoost's IC just lets in the right amount of air at the right temperature so help our engine recover some of that lost hp because of heat ... maybe our engine doesnt see the difference if it gets more or colder air because hiboost already reaches a limit or something ? then you'd have to look at pressure drop and things like that. Maybe ion's will allow you to push the cash a bit further than hiboost's ?

but i dont know ... i think the biggest factor in choosing your IC, since both products are great according to everybody that tested them, is price and wether you mind cutting a piece of bumper or not.

but some info on why you guys chose the core you are using would probably help some people make a decision

Thanks for the response. I am in the market for a FMIC. I gave up the idea of upgrading the SMIC.
So what's the turn around time right now get one of your FMIC kits?
