Hiboost fuel computers for MSP

Hey guys, Juan says both the Haltech e6x and f10x are available for the msp. Anyone running one of these on their cars? I know these are the computers he uses for the turbo kits they sell, but how well do they work in our cars? I want to help support Hiboost by buying their products when I can for their support of the mazda community.

The haltechs are complete standalone engine management systems. They will work on our car, but you better know something about tuning before you start mapping the fuel and timing through the powerband. If you have a tuner near you they will probably be familiar with the haltech if you can afford to pay them to do it. I believe azian6r is running a haltech, but he is pretty heavily modded so he couldn't share his maps with someone who wasn't.

the haltech f10x units from juan should be pre programed when you get them

Yes the E6x and F10x are available for the MSP and should come with pre-made maps but they will only get you so far depending on your mods.

And the others are right, it's not for the tuning novice. You'll want a pro to build your base maps and be prepared to learn a lot. But it is an awesome unit for controlling your car. To the best of my knowledge, Azian6er and Myself are the only guys with an E6X up and running in a Mazdaspeed but you couldn't call either of us stock. lol.

There are multiple guys using F10X and E6X in their Hi-Boost kits. Same engine, same application, just a different tune for the Hi-Boost kit.

I thought the E6X could be used as a complete standalone, or as a piggyback to control just fuel and timing. There has been multiple threads about its capabilities. Doing a quick search should answer most of your questions.

Yes, it can be used as standalone or piggyback. Juan has it configured as psuedo piggyback as many functions are still handled by the factory ECU.

man i had one b**** of a day today tuning this car. I never knew it was so intensive. I couldnt get the 2d maps to work well so we ended up using the 3d maps to try most of my tune. I was on the dyno tuning for 3 hours and my car is no where close to running right. It barely runs ok now after 3 hours of tuning. Then again, my tuner didnt know his s*** when it came to haltech so i pretty much paid 100 bucks of dyno time and 100 bucks to the tuner for nothing.

It is going to take at least another 3-4 hours on the dyno to get this thing running decent.

Man what a b****.

On the other hand, my car is running 440cc injectors (wrx) as well as a nippondenso high flow fuel pump. SO i guess there is some positives.

I honestly couldnt believe how in depth the tunig goes. Make sure you get a PRO to help you.

I am going to try one of juans maps tonight to see if it is any different but man, today really blew.

Depending on how much you already know, I'd recommend the basic or advanced course from EFI 101. I saw a story about it on TV & it seems worthwhile. It's not cheap (especially for the advanced course), but it's better than paying someone else to tune your car when you can do it yourself (assuming you learn enough at the class).
