Hi-Boost and a WRX

I would think a stock WRX compared to a boosted P5 would be a close race. Take into account the AWD. If you wanted to make it a no contest race, then something along the lines of my previous post would be in order.
Right i understand... But what does the average WRX do in the 1/4 mile, I dont remember? A highboosted P5 should be doing low low 14s, maybe high 13s.

From what I have read the stock WRX, under ideal conditions is supposed to run 14.1. I would think a HiBoosted p5 would be very close to that. Lots of variables though, tires, driver, condition of car before boost.

Hmm... very interesting... It would be close indeed. Now are we talking older style WRX's or the new one? Cause the new one is faster correct(assuming ideal conditions)?

i'd rather have a P5 anyday. But as far as you calling bs, he said he's only spent about 4,000 and his dad owns a tuning shop in VA beach. So i'm sure he hasn't paid alot of half the s*** he's got. He runs at rockingham dragway NC and at the Track in Jacksonville NC. He keeps his slips and his dyno s*** in the glove box. He's a cocky asshole and tries to race for money every weekend. Either way call BS doesn't matter to me I hope everyone thinks i'm cool for my friend having a fast WRX on the internet......haha whatever i hope you can sence the sarcasm.

AHAHAHAA I think we are talking about the same guy man! Does this guy have a brother named Paul who just got married to a girl named Sarah Hudson?

Not sure on the year but Im talking the WRx, not the STI. Just to be safe I would say that the WRX can be anywhere from a 13.8 to like a 14.3. You have to think that some cars, eventhough they are exactly the same, are faster. I have personally experienced this. 2 identical cars and 1 is always faster even with different drivers.

I dunno, he is asian if that helps. His last name is (AN). He works with me "USMC" so i dunno his first name i just call him by his last. I just know he's a cocky s*** when it comes to his car, and i used to think it couldn't be that fast. But i had to admit it was after i saw him run it and road in it.

I would think that the lighter weighted P5 with the 210whp Hiboost kit would be able to beat a stock WRX anyday? Or am I missing something? Dont WRXs only have 220ish to the wheels? and dont they weigh near 3200lbs?
The WRX has 180-185hp at the wheels. AWD is a b**** when it comes to losing power at the wheels.

4g's in a wrx can go a long ways. The parts for that car are much cheaper than parts for our cars. For a little over $3,000 they can get uppipe, downpipe, catback exhaust, VF34 turbo, injectors, fuel pump, and a standalone ecu. A local I-club guy down here has those mods plus a little more and runs mid-high 12s in the 1/4.

Like everyone said tho if its a stock wrx then from a roll it should be pretty close.

havent you guys seen my vids of me vs. modded wrxs? although i dont have a kit anything like the hiboost kit so i guess that doesn't count :D

I've got under $1K in mods in my WRX and it's a gain of ~50 whp. I think 500 WHP on a stock tranny sounds a bit extreme. I've always heard 400 is about the limit. And I think that's crank HP. I think you'd need to consider that you're shelling out over $4K to compete with one car and he may have mods as well. Also, with that much money, why don't you just buy a car that was made for speed?

I'm not saying a WRX necessarily, but there's a helluva lotta fast cars out now.

considering you can get a p5 for like 9 grand now, another 4k isn't going to be much help into getting into a "stock" fast car...

uh... but compare the stock prices of the two cars... in canada.. a stock p5 is almost half the cost of a wrx. so even after adding the 4k in kit.. the p5 is still ahead in cost.

you ARE right about there being alot of fast cars out there though.(enguard)
lol

I think the Xa and a Kia are the only cars under $13K new left in the world.

The tC would be around $20K turbo'd. Still cheap compared to anything comparable.

either way.. I like my protege.... even if its not the fastest car on the street.. the turbo kit will only make me enjoy it more... The handling makes up for the rest.

That's the real justification for doing something, IMO. Not because you wanna beat one particular ricer.
