Hey GT Owners -- Question for yah!

Newbie here...

07 Black Cherry GT,AWD,Tech Pack,Sirius,Mono-Chrome/homelink/compass mirror (and some other smaller goodies) is due to be delivered 7/6

Was wondering (for those of you with similarily equipped vehicles) how happy you were with the options you purchased?

What's your fave?
Least fave?

Other words of advice you would want to pass on to someone just ready to pick-up their new rig?

Thx!!!
Rick

PS - happy 7/4 too!

navigation is decent but could be better especially some outdated POIs. Rear camera is great, very useful. Bose speakers are great and enough for the casual rider. The lack of iPod integration is a bummer, annoying that Mazda didn't include it. Climate Control is great as well as the outside mirror heater. Heated seats are useful. i wish I didn't pick the leather because its a chore to keep it clean and shiny and you slide when you drive plus there shld be more side support on the seats.

Overall, the options are great so Not so much complaining except for the lack of iPod integration.

The backup camera saved a kids life yesterday.

I had the whole story typed up but when I went to post it I got an error and I'm not typing it up again right now.

The camera engages everytime u shift into reverse, right? I actually cant wait to have that for parking in the city

I have a GT no Tech pkg so can't speak for those though wish I could. Have Sirius and remote start. Bose system is decent and remote start is nice to have along with the heated seats....use those all the time in winter and both work great! Like compass mirror and I had homelink in my RX 8 and just used it as a garage door opener only but loved it. I just love the way the car handles and we have had no real big issues with it at all and this is the first vehicle my husband prefers to drive over his car.....it's that good! I added things like pinstripe, fog light trim pieces, shark antenna, charcoal cherry dash kit with CX 7 logo. Oh and the turbo badging. love the way all these things look on the vehicle! I want to add the side mirror LED lights with turn signal flashers though. A car you will love to drive...it fits like a glove...super comfortable! Good luck with yours soon!!

the backup camera is great for parallel parking, or just even backing up in general... its nice to know exactly where your bumper is in a tight parking lot.

The nav works well, but it's not as good as the acura/honda units I've owned/used

the keyless entry works good now that I know it's quirks.. but early on it was quite annoying and I almost had the dealer just disable it.

Not sure if the tech package is worth it. I have it.. The GPS in the CX-7 is ok...but much worse then my $350 Garmin Nuvi unit. The Smart Key is kind of cool but a little flaky. Remote start is nice and Backup camera.

tech pkg should at least have blue tooth , imo, much more usefull and worth while than an aux port

rethinking it actually - i think id be more interested in getting w/o tech and installing that Pioneer and wiring it up to make use of the stuff already in the car like the cam

Appreciate all the replies folks...

Just picked it up this eves and am working to get acquainted with things. I have a serious Sirius radio acquisition problem. Got it activated and it moves into acquiring signal mode very freqeuntly and reception is generally quite poor.

Back to the dealer :( Am going to post this issue as a separate thread and see what folks have to say...Wonder if they remembered the satellite antenna?

The antenna should be visible on the roof of the car. Passenger side all the way back by the back hatch.

Yep!

Dealer originally installed inside the vehicle -- Under the headliner (eek2)

Yeah... I have sirius and have no issues. Antenna should be outside near the right rear corner of the car.

Yep, and in the car you are heading to, the pass. mirror angles down to help see the curb, line, whatever - kinda cool.

That's an RDX feature, not a CX-7 feature unfortunately.

My mirror angles down to see the curb....

But I use my finger to do so..

Drive more, pass more RDX's and be happy... (cheers2)

Yeah notice how he said "car you are heading to" nonchalant and all.

I had no idea anyone was "heading to" an RDX... I just saw a guy with an RDX in his signature post that the mirror moves down in reverse and wanted to make sure prospective CX-7 buyers understood this feature isn't available on the CX-7, only the RDX.

I was confused a bit by that as well because I read this thread before I read the thread where mikey1981 said he was getting an RDX.
