Topher said:no, the ecu gives advanced timing. when you 87 octane, the ecu resets the timing to p5/es timing... so, if you want it to run properly, use high-octane gas...if you switch from high to low, you can hear the motor ping until the ecu retards the timing.

why the **** buy a damn car and not run the recommended fuel? that's a waste. sell the car to someone who can take care of it and appreciate it for what it is. if you can't afford the gas, get a ******* hybrid.
