Hesitation @ 2500 to 3000 RPM

Just as I stated above today I felt some hesitation from 2500-3000 RPM, through all of the gears.Not before 2500 and not after 3000-just between this RPM range- 1st gear through 4th( around town driving so I didnt have it in 5th) Has anyone else had a similar problem? It must be spark or fuel- spark being bad coil packs, fouled plugs etc, or a aling fuel pump?? dirty fuel filter or dirty injectors?? If anyone has any input feel free to post. The car has 34k miles on her and I havent given it a tune up yet. I still have a warranty, but if it is something I can do I will fix it myself. I am sure there must be someone with a MP3 that had a similar problem.

i feel a weird pull twice when i start. like when i let off the clutch then push on some gas it sometimes pull once, i dotn let go of the clutch or the gas, then ti pulls again. im not sure wat it is, but it happnes now and then when i leave school today ill drive it and look out for that hesitation for u.

Thanks.. Like I said it was between 2500-3000 RPM, through each gear. I am sure someone may have an idea on what it is??? Otherwise I will take it to the dealer.

Bump... anyone?? anyone?? It is a slight hessitation as a stated above(or a slight bog-stumble etc). No CEL has come on. At idle the RPMs are fine and it will rev without a problem-it just happens when in gear. Any help it appreciated- And if it is easy I want to do it myself.
Shoot me a fix, or some ideas.

k sorry forgot to post last night. i left school and i started the car. right after i didnt let it warm up. just waited like 20secs. then i left. i didnt feel a hesitation. just really crapy shifting and it was funny in first. i might have been driving bad because i was probaly pushing to much gas. but ill try it again today n try not to push to much gas and see wat happens. ill post later tonight if i remember

Mp3n.y.c.-I had the same problem, athould not as severe as you're descripting it. Can you reset the ecu and see if it still stumbles?

yea i drove home didnt feel hesitation. i started up my engine this time n i just left. it was about 70 today here in richmond va. check ur throttle? or ur intake pipes mayb something stuck. if u have a warrenty just take it in and have them check it. might b something wrong with the fuel system too mayb. like its not gettin enough fuel in one injector. i'd just take it in make it alot easier on ya. just my $.02

Yeah where did you see my car?? I will try to reset the computer, what was the issue with your car? I made an appointment @ Great Neck Mazda for next Wed 9am. So unless I can fix it before then its going to the dealer.

AznXstazy: I am gonna check all the piping on the intake to see if there are leaks. I looked briefly and saw nothing wrong. I was thinking a fuel issue, maybe dirty injectors(bad gas)dirty filter,regulator,pump?? we will see.

have you tried cleaning the injectors? I don't think that will cause that, but you got nothing to lose.my car hessitates too, but it's because of the bad ebay intake. so I guess check your intake piping also.

Yeah I have seen that car, It has the stock MP3 rims. What goes down at Gt Spec?? I am right in the area and would like to see a nice size Protege meet happen.

mazpro: I have a E-bay intake and never had a issue before. I am going to check it out and see maybe some of the tubing came loose.

Opp, I thought that was you since there aren't that many mp3s around. I believe Gtspec is probably either owns or is owned by ravspec somehow...They had so many parts there (a huge pile of Defi gauges, body brace bars, etc).

Well I reset the computer and tightend the intake and the hessitation is gone. The car runs perfectly. Maybe it needed to be recalibrated??

with any change to your engine or small problem like this, always try resetting the ECU. it is quick and easy and costs nothing......
