I remember when I got the car from the dealership that he asked me about mods..We talked about everything I want to do to it and He said it's easy to void the warranty (sp) on my car.. So how do I know what I can and Can't put on my car? :-\

No it isn't. Those were legal battles between two large manufacturers. This is a creditability issue for this board. Lazy, sloppy internet typing taking front seat over correct model designation is frigging stupid. It makes this board look lame and amateurish. This forum is new. Get it started on the right foot.

so when these people get used to saying "i drive an m3" and end up showing people a mazda 3 instead of a bmw m3, then they'll look like little wannabes. it's no skin off anyone's back.

remember when the p5 first came out and people called it the mp5? and the mp5 is actually an assault weapon? people got all bent out of shape over it. did it detract from the quality of the forum? i don't think so. no one even flinches anymore when "mp5" is typed in. anyway, the official name of the p5 is the PR5. what the hell does it matter? we're all referring to the same damn car. that's the point. call it whatever the hell you want so long as people know what you're talking about.

[sarcasm]damnit! it's not an axela. it's a mazda3. get it right! [/sarcasm]

Ah, a slightly sticky subject. The first and foremost factor is how your individual dealer feels about it. Some dealers will be real sticklers about it, others are quite forgiving. Generally, just because your car has a few aftermarket add-ons doesn't mean your warranty is voided. It actually isn't legal for a manufacturer to void an entire car's warranty because some aftermarket parts are on it. After all, they can't deny you a fix to a window switch because your car has different wheels on it. That being said, if you incorrectly install a nitrous system in your car and melt a piston in your engine, they can definitely tell you to go fish for a new, warranty replaced engine. They have to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure. Some dealers will try to give you the hardball with this, but simply start saying the word "lawyer" a whole bunch.
This is all covered extensively by the Moss-Magnussen act. Do a searchy online and you should be able to find the whole legal text.
Cheers,

a car's warranty is only void if the aftermarket part you put on is directly responsible for a failure of a stock component. examples: if you put on an intake and the MAF malfunctions, warranty coverage will be hard to come by. they'll say the intake caused it. if you change your timing and end up screwing up your car, then warranty won't cover it. if you lower the car with some springs and blow your struts in 5K miles, warranty won't cover it.

if any "stock" component is messed up because of an "aftermarket" component, warranty repair is not applicable.

Thanks, yeah it makes sense. As long as the mods dont screw up the stock componets then it's a-ok! The first thing im doing is a 2 1/2 drop im pretty sure. A new suspension...

Amen, brother!

Same goes for the mp3. "Gee... you drive a music file?"

I just call mine a plain ol' 3.

People still talking about this ish? Just set your ego aside, and call it whatever you want.

depends on sema....and most people cnsider removing a cat to void it...cali cops and emittions would try raping you for it cause they already started writeing tickets to evos for wings and srt-4s for no mufflers(jerkit) and as stated before calling it a m3 off the board is why I was talking of that and Mz is how it is abrevated on the window sticky. call it whatever you like other than a civic hatch and you should be ok as for the forum

I'll tell you what. There was a post about the board being lame because someone referred to their 3 as a M3. I write 3, Mz3, and M3 because I don't expect for people to be so F'in stupid as to think that I am reffering to a BMW on a Mazda 3 thread in a Mazda site. Now if their is anything lame it is that person that has the thoughts of this board being lame because of lazy typing. Is this F'in computer class or a thread on aftermarket parts for a new girl that just wants to be informed.

Someone has a little bit of computer geek, NERD, or lame in their mentallity. Or should I refer to the computer geek in another abbreviation.

Chill the FU*K out dude. Peace

Aw it aint no thang! Call it what you want, no one actually cares. Although I'm gettin pretty fond of Axela! :) No fight, just love;)ha

http://www.enjoythedrive.com/san is the site i was refering to...it tells yu what is and isn't covered with voiding warentys...ask the dealerships on if it does or doesn't....I know of dealerships that honored warrenty work and he switched his non magnum engine out for a magnum one....and then some dealerships void it for cat removal or blown tranny. Some places beleve both were from "Race Conditions". depends on who is running it (jerkit) catback shouldn't void it....only thing a cat back could do is not pass emmitions check if it was way tooo loud.

haha u guys crack me up, who gives a damn about what its called. this thread was so that...importbabie3....could find out what aftermarket parts were out for her car, not so she knew what ta call her car.lol (blah)
