mazdaspeed 2003.5
So i bought a mazdaspeed protege my second one. it had a blown motor whcih i just replaced. I started it up and black smoke is coming out of the mufffler . i changed the oil. put sum chemicals in it. and i clean out the carburator but it still has black smoke out of the muffler. any suggestions on whats wrong. and when i drive the car it works going slow but when i hold the gas it starts to bog out and lose power.

HELP

It's running rich probably......fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump or bad signals from an 02 sensor or something. could be many things but it sounds like that could be one of em..
good luck

You don't have a carb. Carbs haven't been used in cars for a long time. The car runs rich you need to retune the fuel map as it is electronically fuel injected.

How much black smoke?

I mean, I know the MSP runs rich stock .. but I still have the stock EMS, and I've never had black smoke pouring out of my muffler at idle. Ever.

However, it does sound like a tuning issue. The bogging down. Does the car have any engine modifications that you know of? What did you clean out, since we know it's not actually the carburetor? Did you try smelling the exhaust fumes?

Carb huh? Maybe he has a NASCAR msp. shweeeeet.

Im thinking it wouldn't be an IC pipe because then the car would die out at idle or at least rev real bad. could be tuning... wierd problem, subbing for progress.

They could be attached but loose in a pressured spot.. As he's not getting enough required air to the motor so the ecu throws fuel which in turn puts out black smoke from being REALLY rich..

well as you can tell i dont know much bout this car.lol but all the pipes are connected . so where do i go to tune this car.

so i got the smoke to stop yessir. but it is stil bogging out. i push the petal down and won't go fast it just goes slow. the speeds up and ya.
So if i could get sum moa suggestions?

Check the gap on your plugs.. Also check to see what kind they are as well... If they arent NGK's get some..

Get in touch with the MSPEC crew up there in Oahu. They should be able to help you troubleshoot it really fast.

Actually, which island are you on? If you are on the big isle, call me up. I can help you out.
