I got my hood today and have mounted it but it wont close all the way. Not sure whats keeping the latch from locking all the way down. Can anyone help me?? Who else had that problem?

ur latch may need to be moved up. There should be a bolt that you can loosen to move the latch up and down (on the car not the hood)

The same thing happened on my mx-6.

Hope this helps.

ok, i see 2 bolts, one on each side of the latch but loosening them only allows me to move it from side to side, not up and down, the latch lines up perfectly, so i dony think moving it to the side will help. or am i looking at the wrong spot?

hmmm in my mx6 there were actually 2 bolts if i remember correctly.... it is wierd that there isnt one to loosen to move it up and down. Could you sanap a pic for me?

Maybe look lower down then those 2 bolts?

OK, here are PICS, any ideas?

first here are 2 pics of the car with the hood:

now, here are the marks under the hood from things that may be keeping it from closing all the way:

this mark, i can tell is being caused by the corner of the metal piece that is circled on the left :

and the clamp that is circled on the right seems to be causing the marks on the pic below, but i moved the clamp so that the metal piece that was on top sticking out is now to the side, i do not think this is causing the problem after i moved the clamp, but i am not sure, anyway here is the pic:

and here is the pic of the latch and the two bolts that azian6er was reffering to:

i even remopved the two rubber stoppers on the front of the engine compartment, but still, it wont latch down completely. this sux, after waiting so long. can anyone help??!!!!

You'll also need to take off the retaining clip for the hood prop rod. Might have to put some washers in the bolts that attachch the loop to the actual hood that the latch catches. These are courtesy of MSPHAWAII. Contact him. He just got done with this a week ago.

This may be a stupid question, but are you just dropping the hood, and it's not latching, or will it not latch no matter what?? The CF hood on my Civic needed to be forced into the latch due the the lack of weight. I had to push down right on top of the latch to secure it....Just a thought.
Other than that, make sure the hooked part on the car is not jammed shut. That's the only thing I can think of right off hand. Maybe a closer pic of the front of your car would help. The ones you posted are a little small, and far away.

got it installed and shut FINALLY!! i had to loosen both front fenders in order to pull them out so that i could get to the two bolts that hold down the little arms that actually hold the hood.( the ones that you bolt the hood to and that swing up when you open your hood ) I had to loosen those bolts and then push the arms forward and then retighten them. you could see the marks from the washers and where they used to be at one time, over time it looks like they have actually moved BACK some. Anyway, that moved the whole hood about an eighth to a quarter inch forward and shut, click, securely closed hood. TALK ABOUT A PAIN IN THE ASS!!! But the hood is beautiful, and me and my cousins went out for a cruise afterward and took a bunch of pics of my Speed with my Laser Blue MIca MP3 which I will post tomorrow morning. :D :D

excellent :D
im excited about it. i want the hood really bad, i think that i will get one right after christmas

omg, i bet what you just described is what happened to my evo hood.

it has been like an eigth of an icnh too close to the windshield since a cple weeks after i got it. i assumed that the hood had warped or something. This makes perfect sense. my hood hadnt been latching right for some time now AND it had been dinging up the very top of my front bumper when i closed it.

ill have to look into this in march when the snow melts off my msp....

oh yea, and it looks like they started cutting the notches out of the front of the hood where the latch goes, i called em up and told em that they needed to do so once i go mine and had already had to dremel it out
