Help with Oil Pressure gauge install

I'm installing a boost gauge, Air/Fuel gauge and Electronic Oil Pressure gauge in my 03 Speed. I was able to find LinuxRacr's install guide on the Air/Fuel gauge and the boost gauge install elsewhere. However, no luck on the Oil Pressure gauge. I realize it will probably be the easiest one to do, but I don't know the location of the sender unit and such. I would really appreciate a how-to if anyone has performed this on a Protege. Thanks.

There is a thead on here somewhere regarding this. The sender unit is located near the Oil FIlter. You have to remove the oil filter to add the new sender I think.

The hole on the block where the stock sender is attached is BSPT, Autometer sells a BSPT - 1/8 NPT adapter. Then use a 1/8 NPT male union to a 1/8 NPT female tee. Attach the stock sender to one end of the tee, and the aftermarket sender to the other end of the tee. There is no need to remove the oil filter. Then just run the wires.

Another option is to get a sending unit that has both a contact for low warning; and a contact for actual pressure; with 1/8" British Standard Pipe Thread. You can use the existing wire to the warning contact and wire to the gauge with the other.

This connection would eliminate the 'T'. There's a VDO sender that does this but, it's probably expensive. Part no. is 360 082

Good luck.

so you dont have to remove the oil filter or loose the oil to install the pressure sender for the ms6 all you need is the npt male to bspt male 1/8"

can someone get pics for me for the MSP?? im going to get a oil pressure but dont know where to start the install at. Thanks in advance!

you can just buy the oil sandwich mounts between you filter and the block prob the easiest thing to do and i think its only like 25$

Can someone do a how to? i will get one and do the how to if i have to but id like some pics first

i can take some pictures as to how i have my sender on the block other then that if you wait a week or so im gonna be putting one in my new car

this would be a good option for anyone running the stock oil filter, however, I BELIEVE anyone running the 626 filter will have problems with clearance issues most likely

s*** i was able to get the 1/8npt (i think) brass t supplied with my turbo kit to screw in fine. one for the oil feed and the other for my stri oil p sending unit.

if your installing an oil pressure gauge it is pointless to waste your time trying to put the stock one back in. i dunno what pressure it's set at but they are always something stupid low down near 0psi. so basically by the time your oil light comes on your engine is already ******. my gauges have a little settable warning light on them to catch my eye. but i check my gauges often anyway

bump for pics....i'll be doin this soon. is the plastic hose that comes with the gauge okay or does anyone recommend something else?
