i recently ordered one and i heard they have 3 springs yellow, blue, and red. my car is stock but i am putting a cold air intake soon so any suggestions on what springs to use.
(sorry if this topic has been discussed before)

I use the Blue with 2 shims. I have the Cobb intake. Start with the blue spring, ride around for a couple of days then add 1 shim, again drive for a couple of days then try two shims. I believe most people with an intake run blue with 2.

So can we uh.. get confirmation here? Anyone else have instructions on the Forge BPV? I just installed mine today and I dont want to potentially hurt my engine because I went with what one person who Ive never met before said.

Not that Im doubting you, cosmic... well, actually I am. Sorry.

there are no instructions ... and there is no paper that tells you what spring or shims to use

I started out with the blue spring ... then i added the 2 shims.. im running just a COBB SRI .. honestly... just start out with the blue spring .. and see how that feels ..

The shims are for tweaking and tuning it to how you want to run.

Yes, please search next time.

Blue spring + 2 shims seems to work perfectly fine for most people with stock or close to stock setups. That is what I am running now and it works fine.

Just installed mine today, stock turbo and boost. I used 1 shim and the blue spring.
I've been told they run very quiet, yet I can't hear anything from it - even at full-tilt. Is this how it's supposed to operate?

With the stock intake and stock turbo inlet pipe it's going to be fairly quiet. Just be assured that it holds boost better than the stock one, even if you can't hear it that much.

ill say this .. with my cobb SRI and just the FORGE bpv ... this thing is LOUD AS HELL ... once you get an intake .. you will def hear it

Question? When you installed your springs and shims for the forge BPV did you put your shims on top and bottom of the spring? Or put both shims on one side of the spring?

The reason i ask is i get a way different sound when i put shims on the bottom and top of the spring, more of a flutter than the ping noise. I was just curious if it was good or bad doing this? If no big deal then for those who dislike the ping this is a quick fix if you favor the flutter air noise of BOV`s

Flutter usually means compressor surge, so I would do it the way that does NOT make that noise.

Thanks for the info AutoEuphoria i ended up changing immediately back to one shim and blue spring since it felt as if the car was jumping forward in low rpm shifts. Also ive seen before in previous posts and your pic that you have 6k HIDs did you have to take the bumper off to install? I got some 8k hid bulbs but i cant get to the damn bulbs to replace...

Is bumper removal necessary in order to install replacement HID bulbs?

This is my second ms3 this year my first one was True Red Sport that i never got to mod( T-boned at 65mph by 4x4 Tundra still had my paper plates) and the one i have now is Black GT with stock xenons

Whatever you say, words on a screen.

No one likes a dickface, so don't be one. Do you honestly think people will want to help a lazy POS like yourself? I'll answer that for you: NO! Go join a different forum, or alternatively jump from a bridge ;), either way, I'm sure your worthless contribution to this forum will not be missed(fu)

Yep... Blue spring with both shims at the bottom/piston-side. Sounds damn awesome, yet still very stealth. The guys where I had it installed ran it w/out the recirc and said I should do that, plug the recirc hose to keep the CEL from hitting - teeeemmmmmpppppting :)
Got the AEM CAI also installed and the turbo spooling sounds like a BEAST (cool)
I'll have pics up soon...

Aways back, Patty at ForgeMotorsports was helping us out with all kinds of questions and was great. I also have the Forge and the three springs are differnt levels of tension. It is yellow to blue to red. the shims will increase the tension abit more as you add to make up the levels in between. No shim is less and two are the most. So the softest is yellow with no shim and the stiffest is red with two. This is instead of adjustable on the fly style that adjusts by turning the unit to increase and decrease tension. A boost gauge is needed help find the right setup for your car. And the shims must be on the bottom only.
