Help with Forge BPV

Yep... Blue spring with both shims at the bottom/piston-side. Sounds damn awesome, yet still very stealth. The guys where I had it installed ran it w/out the recirc and said I should do that, plug the recirc hose to keep the CEL from hitting - teeeemmmmmpppppting :)
Got the AEM CAI also installed and the turbo spooling sounds like a BEAST (cool)
I'll have pics up soon...

Nope... even when plugging the recirc hose, the car can't idle for carp :(
The 'whooooosh' and whistle are loud enough because of the CAI that my fuel economy is crap - I keep getting on/off throttle just to hear it :))

The recirc valve won't work as an atmospheric valve. We make a twin piston atmo valve for that...
So glad to hear you are still available for help! Do you have a part number I could search. I do not think many people are aware that you supply such a unit. I didn't. And are you folks working on a wastegate too? Thanks

flutter is NOT surge...they are 2 totally different things. a good well dialed in BPV will flutter at low boost venting. then at higher levels it will give a full release. the flutter sound means you are venting right at the cracking pressure of the spring so instead of staying open it flutters open/close rapidly. that means you have the best possible set up. if all you get is full clean vents even at low boost, you are drastically hurting your spool up.
but what do i know.... i am just the guy who tests ALL of the forge products for the mazdaspeed 3.

And the shims must be on the bottom only.

I keep seeing this worded differently, but the bottom line is that the shims go inside the piston.
Screw off the cap, pull the spring, put the shim(s) inside the piston, put the spring back in, and put the cap back on.
The air pressure reference opening on the cap will be blocked if you put them in otherwise.

I am sorry about that. i think your definition is better MLC. Thanks for assist. And Tru Boost i would like to test something too. Aww heck I guess I am alittle jealous. Are you using blue and two shims with your setup? And Midlife, what are you running and at what boost please

i run the red spring all day...have been for about a year. stops the PING and spool like a MOTHA !!

Are you running stock boost? I've only added the AEM CAI so far, no boost control other than the recirc Forge BOV. Running the blue with 2 shims and no flutter, only a whoosh and ping on hard drops.

reading his threads and setup he is running above eighteen and probably closer to twenty+1. Am I close Swamp?

in warmer temps i can run 21psi, right at 22 i get cut.
now that its cold here i can only hit about 18psi before the cut comes.
pisses me off to no end !

i am suffering !! all this power going to waste becouse my car coughs up a fireball (seriously) evertime i roll on it from 3+ gear. unless i start my pull from 1st or 2nd gear my car sucks.

Plenty of fuel apparently. I have learned to not try a serious pull in third or fourth below 4500 as the car loads up and spits chunks of fuel. me with no tune. being rich can be a pain. I used to think that all that torque down low was the advantage. But with acouple of higher flowing bolt ups and pump she will rev with some power to redline. so I relearned the powerband. You probably already know this though. I never try to pull from below 4500 anymore and that has helped my acceleration quite a bit.

I installed my Forge and noticed that the Recirc Hose doesn't quite line up. It seems that the Recirc Fitting on the Forge is off by a few degrees. Anyone else seeing this?

Mine lines up good too.

And Ericapp, I know what you mean, I dynoed my car last week and on the AFR readings, was 10.1 and spitting fuel out the back, or so my friends told me and PSI spiked to 16 and then held at 12.9

You can twist the forge to get it to line up. You may have to loosen the clip on the bottom,if so make sure you retighten it or it will leak.

ok i keep hearing ppl say the forge bpv is really quiet... but is it's even quieter than the stock one? right now i only have a injen CAI and the stock bpv is very loud. it can't be quieter than the stock one right? and the ping sound, it's only make that sound when you step on the gas hard right? what sound does it make when you not stepping on it hard? whoosh or pssss?

Patty at Forge I need a new blue decal please. When my car was hit, my decal was mangled along with some other parts of the car. She is fixed minus the decal. Please email me so we can make arrangements. I have been very pleased with the Black Forge on my car.

Are you confusing the sound of your turbo spooling with the sound of the BPV?
