Help with Delayed Headlights

I was wondering if anyone could help me make/find a kit that would delay my headlights from turning off when I turn the car off. I want them to stay lit for another 15-20 seconds. I know the Mazda6 has this option, maybe some parts could be retrofitted? Any help would be appreciated.

this doesn't make sense. on my 3 as long as the light switch is on the headlights stay on. yours go off?

i think hes saying he wants them to shut off on their own. basically to light up the area around the car until he leaves.

The higher end Mazda 3's have automatic lights, so you never have to touch the light switch you leave it in auto mode.

Now the Mazda 6, does NOT have auto mode on any trim level, when they are on, and you turn the car off and leave them on, they will auto shut off to not drain the battery.

higher end mazda 3's? if i'm not mistaken the 3 s was (until the sp23 package) the higest end and it doesn't come with auto lights.....

Ok so whats the verdict? Is this possible? I read elsewhere that when you do the independent foglight conversion the fogs will stay on for a few seconds after you turn them off. I really only want this for my headlights though. For those who may not understand this post, I'm just trying to find a way for the headlights to stay on for 15-30 seconds after I take the keys out of the ignition. This allows a lighted driveway when I walk to my house. Also, I'm not looking for the lights to turn on and of depending on day/night. Lots of cars have this features, for instance all lexus' do.

lexus has automatic lights. american mz3's don't. don't try to compare a lexus to a mazda. they are 2 TOTALLY different car makers. you might (keyword is "might") be able to get a automatic light kit from a canadian mazda 3. which would make your lights stay on for about 20 seconds after you take the keys out.

You're right, Mazda shouldnt be compared to Lexus as far as quality and luxury features. I was just trying to give an example of a car that had a similar feature. The early Lexus LS400s didnt have Auto ON/OFF, but still had a timed delay. For that matter, the FORD Escape that I had as a rental had them and it was a crappy base model (shrug) . I wouldnt say that the lights were automatic but they have a 30 second delay. I'm going to to look into the Ford Focus to see if they have this feature. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Unfortunately your only partially right.
the Canadian models do have auto lights, but they do not stay on for any amount of time after the car is shut off.

I too would like to have the lights stay on for 30 seconds after I turn the car off. I havn't looked too hard yet, but I imagine there is a product on the market that can do this as it is such a simple task. A relay and a timer chip could do the trick!

the older focus didn't have that feature. unless they made a nicer model that i didn't know about... the new ones may have that feature but i don't know.
