HELP? TPMS Light on after swapping to RX8 wheels...

Actually, I was quoted at $1236.00 per wheel for the 19x8 forged R3 wheels when I asked out of curiousity the last time I was pricing out a part...

Still ridiculous, though not as ridiculous as $2100.......

Now that I think about it, I think they quoted you on those gold or bronze Mazdaspeed 19" ones, not R3 wheels.

I don't think so. I think the wheels you're thinking about only come in 18", no?

Anyway, I specifically asked for the price of one 19x8 2009 R3 wheel...I wouldn't say that it's impossible that the guy gave me the wrong quote, but he seemed to be pretty sure, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't looking at a Mazdaspeed catalog either. I believe he looked it up through the regular parts system...

The 18s are right on mazdas site in the mazdaspeed section for RX8 for $1685/ea, so the $2100/ea for 19s sounds right.

Ok well regardless, theyre expensive as hell. So back on topic, I put some air in the tires (only needed a couple lbs) and the light is still on.

Have you actually broken out the manual and gone through whatever it is it tells you to do (I can't remember what that procedure actually entails, but it's entirely possible that you've already done whatever it is you're supposed to do just in the course of driving the car around since putting them on...)?

That's the next step if you haven't done it...if that doesn't work, I would assume that you have at least one faulty sensor/transmitter.

One more thing:

Is the car empty? I've heard that having large metallic objects in the cargo area near the rear wheelwell can interfere with the signals...

Maybe I should take the rocket launchers

Ok, just discovered one of the wheels doesnt have a sensor in it.... so to the person who sold me those wheels....

That sucks !!

I installed a set of RX8 rims with their original tpms this last weekend, and no light has come on.

I am looking into MS3 wheels and/or RX8 wheels for our Mazda5.

In talking to Leslie Schwaby - apparently all Mazdas come with TMPS now.(uhm)

So if I can get MS3 or RX8's w/ TMPS I should be fine, but what if not? There has to be a way into the ECU or ECM to turn off the TMPS dummy light eh? I cannot imagine all wheels mounted on Mazdas have TMPS.

michael.

Indeed. Starting in the 2008 model year, all new cars sold in the United States must have a Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
