Help This Animal

2300 seems kinda high, just anti-biotics and fluids 500-1000 is kinda tops. Kinda wierd with distemper having seizures and being OK. Almost sounds like epilepsy. Or rabies... Donated nontheless...

PM me, I would like to send you a donation via mail since I dont have a paypal account and dont really need one for anything.

Thanks guys. Thats what I thought, it was really quite high, but I did some research and called around, and found out that, it is not just antibiotics, there is actually a procedure they can do now, that involves going in through the neck, and doing something. Because when they start having seizures, that means that is is starting to cut off oxygen. Thats why they start to get crazy. But Thanks again guys, so far we have raised about over 300 dollars, i just need to update the list.

Thanks a ton guys.

Here's an article on it...

I didn't like seeeing this in most articles.

Treatment
Specific antiviral drugs having an effect on CDV in dogs are not available. Treatment of CD, therefore, is nonspecific. Antibiotic therapy is indicated because of the common occurrence of secondary bacterial infections of the respiratory and alimentary tracts. Because dogs with CD and diarrhea are often dehydrated, fluid and electrolyte support may be the most important therapy for CD.
Treatment of dogs with neurologic signs is not rewarding. Sedatives and anticonvulsants may ameliorate clinical signs, but they do not have a curative effect. However, dogs with signs of CNS involvement occasionally recover and myoclonus or optic neuritis may improve with time. If CNS signs are progressive and dogs become recumbent, euthanasia is indicated

I hope it's not too far along and can be treated. Nothing worse than putting an animal down-even when you know it's for the best.

I know man, its hard seeing that, but the vet said that when they are older like him, they have a better chance of surviving, becuase there immune system is a lot stronger, and with this new procedure, there is a good 60,70% chance of survival if caught early. So if anyones dog is exhibiting any of these side effects, take your dog to the vet right away. I watched something online just a second ago about a dog like Milton, that was a stray. And the dog was seriously in pain, and it was just like that picture above of kujo.

But I will have some pics of the guy tomorrow.

Ghostwhisper, you should try and see if anyone is interested in adopting it. I mean what you are doing is great, but it would be even better if someone could give it a home. That way, any $$ you raised can be given to the new owner for treatment, or if trust is an issue, the treatment can take place, and then find a home for it.

btw, Milton is def. gonna be my next dog's name. GOOD CHOICE@!

Yeah man that is what i was planning on doing. I wanted to get it some good treatment, and then find it a good home, I am asking around, its a bigger dog, and older, so it would be good farm dog, probably not the best family dog, becuase of this disease, they still have problems once healed, but i good dog in general. I would love to keep it, but would be hard, with a 2 cats and a dog already. I just want to help it out. It makes me just feel a lot better that he will hopefully get better.

Thanks again guys.
