help swing a swing voter

so in this tight election where the swing voter is apparently so important I find myself having never cared about politics before but feeling as though this election is important enough to the point where I am actually going to get out and vote.

So here is your chance, try to swing me.

Tons of people have given me tons of reasons to vote for kerry......so lets lay off of his benefits....

I havent been able to find anyone who has reasons that I should swing to vote for bush yet so I am most interested in hearing those. And if you have reasons why I should swing to nader then post those also.

let er rip!

repost but...

Tax cuts. Bush passed them and because of them I got another 3,000$ back last year and he just extended the same tax cuts yesterday.
He has made it easier on small business owners with large work vehicles by allowing a 100% write off. Bush helped me personally by overhauling the capital gains taxes and allowing me to make up to 500,000.00$ tax free every two years off the sale of my home. Which I just did. I sold a home made 40k tax free and I will sell the new one I am building in two years and make over 150,000$ off of it tax free as long as I meet the criteria for such an exemption. Which I will.
He has removed the marriage penalty, raised the child tax credit to 1000.00$ a child and he is taking the fight to the terrorists where they live so we don't have to fight them where we live.
Over and over again Bush has proven to be more than a polished elitist in a nice suit with good posture and a knack for verbal discourse.
He has my vote because of this and for many more reasons.

This thread should be interesting. Honestly. I'm very interested in why people would vote for Bush, other than "he's a Republican" and "he's not Kerry".

Stem cell research. IMHO 'nough said, vote for Kerry.
Adult stem cell research is in full swing as is fetal stem cell research all Bush did was prevent federal funding for fetal stem cell research. Private funding is still allowed. It is once again another way in which one side will destort the facts in their favor. Of course this is American politics :)

You live in a dream land if you think that he would be benifited from any current research. No offense to your father. I would love to see him cured.
There is no magic cure for all disease. Growing humans to grind up so you can heal other humans is a bit bizzare.
However, I sense a thread jack in progress so I shall digress.

vote bush because he has reintroduced a sort of neo-reaganomics. reagan was my hero. he's also tied together the church and state with faith based initiatives, a fact that is often overlooked. we're a christian nation damnit, mind as well own up to it. bush is also great for the environment. why dig up a whole other country for oil when we can just dig up alaska? i mean, who really lives there anyway besides a bunch of meese (is that right? more than one moose is meese?). he's helping to preserve the planet. then there's the whole war on terror. he has a clear vision and a clear plan. and by golly, he's sticking to it. who cares if saddam doesn't have weapons of mass destruction. they attacked us first! ah, and who can forget the rising economy? tax cuts across the board. everyone gets some unless you make less than 30K a year. who makes less than $30K a year anyway. my radiologist cousin was able to get back almost 60K in taxes last year. that's a good tax break. he worked for his money. he deserves to keep more of it. if you work for your money, you should get back some too. if you make a lot of money, you get a lot of money back. if you are a big business, you get tax breaks for bringing jobs to developing countires like india. you pay pennies on the dollar for labor, making your company's profit margin that much greater, leading to an increase in your stock value, which in turn allows for more wealthy people to invest in your company. and this whole business about the national deficit thing... balogna. if you ain't got money, work harder. what the government borrows from creditors has no bearing on the daily lives of the average american. the jobless claims in america are false and baseless. the national unemployment rate is right about 6%, pretty much on par with clinton's years. the "1 million jobs" loss is in industries that have been "outsourced." if the damn unions would shut the hell up, the workers would work for less money, but at least they'd have a job. my uncle was a senior engineer for sun micro. they outsourced his department to india. now he works for home depot. more people need to do this. health care is another issue where bush is the man. supply and demand. with privatizing health care, we will have a market economy style health care system where insurance companies will lower prices to attract more customers. look how well the privatizing of the energy companies in california worked. hell, prices were so good, people were paying nearly double what they normally did just because they liked their power companies so much. ah, yes... bush... he's the man.

uhmm, no...I'm not thinking about my father here either. It is too late to help him.

I'm thinking of other peoples' parents who will experience this in the future (or, hopefully not experience it or Alzheimer's or anything else that at least has the potential to be cured through this research).

My two cents, and I'm done. :D

yep, i agree. what's the point of federally funding stem cell research? it's not going to find a cure for genetic diseases any time soon. look at cancer. it has all that federal funding and has had it for the last 40 years and it's still the #2 killer among men and women in the US. another waste of taxpayer money. i'd rather put that money into something like faith-based initiatives. maybe more people can get prayed for that way and since prayer has been shown to be beneficial in case studies, it's better than putting it into a field that kills babies. well, i guess it's too bad that most of stem cells right now come from embryos of couples who goes to fertility clinics and agrees to donate the rest of their unused embryos to science. so yeah... there's no need for federal funding.

That article you posted is BS.

1-Stem Cell research will not cure atlimer's

2-Bush is FOR stem cell, and even donated to it, but he has restrictions on it to appease the religious.

Thank you, there is my 2nd reason to vote against Bush.

What it will come down to is what issues/matters are most important to you. Most people feel this election is predicated on the war and how you feel about it. While that may be true, that doesn't mean that the other issues are irrelevant. A small business owner with 4 kids about to go to college has different types of issues facing him than a feminist college student. To say that they should both vote for the same guy for the same reasons is a bit naive. Sure, our safety is the most important thing but let's not forget about the other issues as well.

In short, since we haven't been attacked since 9/11 it's fair to say Bush has done a good job on that front. If you feel that our chances of being attacked with Kerry at the helm go up, than perhaps the other issues are irrelevant. I, for one, feel Kerry would do an adequate job with the war (I mean, how much worse could it get?) But could he keep the homeland as safe? I'm not so sure about that. While this patriot act may be a bit un-american, if it's helped thwart a terrorist attack on our homeland than you have to at least have some appreciation for it. Since Bush is behind it, he deserves the credit (or blame.) I feel Kerry would loosen things up a bit on that front and personally, that scares me a bit. Even with that said, I feel on domestic issues he'd be a superior president.

As you can tell, I'm undecided as well. I doubt my mind will be made up on the forum here... or even watching these debates. This is a gut thing.

Hey, they fund him, he's gotta make them happy. It's politics. If Kerry wins, they'll be some people that he'll have to appease too.

is that right? more than one moose is meese?
Moosen, many much moosen....for all you Brian Reagan fans. I'm sick of political discussions, if Bush wins I am moving to Canada.

I hear ya'...I just wish religion had no influence on politics, but it does.

don't move to canada unless you like getting the double tax. when i was in canada, i had to pay $40 on $200 worth of stuff. that's insane! 20% taxes... for what? free health care for everyone? i don't get sick, i don't go to hospital. why should i pay for someone else's health care? SUCKS!

Why didn't you move there 4 years ago?

I'm sick of this "if so and so wins, I'm moving to Canada" BS. I hope he wins just to see if all of these people actually move.

I personally was dissapointed when several hollywood wack jobs (such as Striesand?) didn't move after GW won last time.
