yea i figured id have to use something so i dont destroy it, thats why i didnt try too hard. got scared...so i just get something to hold that little plate? or do i need to hold something else?

no, thats what you have to keep from spinning......

a long pipe wrench and a long socket wrench will be fine.....breaker bars are nice though!

edit:

make sure you use a deep socket on the nut!

do yourself a favor and get a good set of 6-point sockets (e.g., Craftsman...i think a set of deep 6-points was $15 or so). don't use 12-point sockets; they slip like mofos.

BTW- if you replace the rear struts, make sure you transfer over the metal caps on the top of the stock dust boots. that cap distributes the pressure to the metal part of the strut top, instead of the rubber bushing. i didn't realize what they did, and tore out a strut top b/c of it.

Is our problem an end-link problem? It sounds like it is coming from the upper part of the strut?

I think part of the problem is figuring this out...I think I have a sound for each plus the tire rubbing that I still hear somtimes.
Already rolled the fender some to help that.

I hear noise from both the top of the strut and the endlink making contact as well at other times.:'(

no....my car ran into some other issues this past weekend. along with homecomming and barth syndrome drive for a cure golf tourny i worked at. it was a busy weekend. will try this comming weekend.

I noticed that my AWR endlinks have a few more threads that look like they can be used, but I cannot get them to tighten enough to use those threads. I know that the AWR endlinks are very close, but seems to be just a bit longer, this makes the swaybar slightly tilt downward, when the swaybar should be parrallel with the car when sitting on the ground under load. I will try this washer trick as well, but I may see if there is a way to maybe cut and shorten the endlinks screws to allow for them to fit enough to make the swaybar perfectly parrallel with the car.

I got sick this past weekend so nothing was done to the car, now my car is 2000 miles overdue for an oil change, brakes need to be done, wipers need to be replaced, air filter needs to be replaced, then onto the timing belt... But funny thing is that my suspension has not been cluncking as much this past week...

:(

Yeah, actually I do. I ended up taking it to the stealership for a check... turns out it was my anti-roll bar and its mounting brackets on each end is loose, plus the buschings...

So they replaced those and now I'm fine.
