I could not find this and I am curious to know. Are the stock springs in the DX, LX and ES models the same as the P5? If not do you know the spring rates.

some websites list the sedan and P5 as the same, Tein & H&R do and I think Eibach is the only one with 2 different part #s'.
Pretty sure they are the same, someone on here with a P5 I think put sedan Eibachs' on his P5 and worked fine. As far as spring rates, all I know is Tein springs are rated at 179 front and 145 rear for both cars. :) :)

Don't recall off the top of my sleepy tired head but the following are some spring rates for aftermarket:

MP3-215 F 152 B
MSP-145 F 118 B-this is from the MazdaSite even though I have always found it strange.

SS Coilover 336 F 280 B
JIC FLTA2 393 F 225 B

Now I'm be racking my head all night trying to remember the stock P5 rates. Grrr :)

Oh and yes the suspesion is suppose to be the same on a P5 and normal Protege even though the part numbers are different....

I am selling my coilovers and have a prospective P5 buyer. I just want to know if in the stock the sedan models and MP5 are the same. Other than the MP3 and MSP because I know those are different. I just don't want a real spongy set of springs stock sedan ones weren't really that bad but I just don't want to make a swap and end wishing I didn't.

hmm makes sense on the aftermarket setup differences from the weight aspect. But what about stock wise? Aren't the two suppose to be the same. Maybe slightly stronger rate in the rear but didn't think it would to far off on the a stock setup.

Yeah Captain I would hate to have a huge problem or have the car turn out to ride like sh*t. I really don't want to disappoint him :( . Man this sucks, If our cars are different though I can't see why I would want to risk messing things up. What a conflict!!!
