so im new in this mazda game i have a 2003.5 mazdaspeed protege. in the state of ct i need to pass my emmission but when i take it to get it done it keeps failing. they r telling m ethat their computer is not connecting to my car is this a known problem ? or has any one experience this before? or a fix? there are no engine lights on or anything and car is all stock
thanks

+1 on making sure your car is stock. Post some pics of the engine bay and check in the glove box/under the dash for a stand alone computer.

Try going to an auto parts store and see if their scan tool can connect to your ECU. Maybe check fuses?? A stock MSP should have no problems with emissions testing. Let us know what you find.

when i bought my car i thought it was all stock but then i realized the stock muffler was used with a custom j-pipe back exhaust

alright i will post some pics later tonight and the only thing i can tell is like aftermarket is the turbo gauge and radio that's and they told me maybe bad wiring could when they connected the radio could cause it

They would of had to have done one hell of a bad wiring job. lol. look forward to seeing the pics. Like Silverspeed2015 said, take good pics of the exhaust if its failing emissions, likely something there.
