i jus bought a 95 mazda 626 5 speed 2.0l I4. when i bought it the only problem with it was the alternator which i replaced along with a tune up (plugs/wires, distributor cap/rotor, oil change and pcv valve) but since then my car has had a ticking in the engine which i cant figure out, back pressure in the exhaust with alot of white smoke from the exhaust and the car doesnt hold a charge for very long. i was told that the reason its not holding a charge is because of the wiring from the alternator to the battery is setup with 2 8 gauge wires instead of 1 4 gauge wire. but me and my friend cant figure out the tick or the back pressure, we checked the timing and its perfectly lined up, any ideas?

The tick sounds like one of the lifters not pumping up. The ticking sound should go away. For the white smoke make sure you didn't overfill the oil.

I would make the sure the battery is ok. If it is make sure the new alternator is putting out a charge. A pair of 8 gauge wires would probably by ok but not great for a charge circuit.

well i got everything running but today i started it up and it started right up then backed it out of the driveway, with plenty of gas and my battery ready 14.6V while running, my car stalled on me. when i tried to start it back up it had nothing, it would crank over but not start. i checked everything..from battery to alternator, to distributor cap to the rotor to the plugs and wires. i have power to everything up to the distibutor cap/rotor..any ideas?

Wow you are having some bad luck.

Of the top of my head I would check the intake pipe betweem the MAF and the throttle body for leaks first.

If that doesnt yielf you anything start going down the list of basics, Spark, Fuel, and Compression.

fuel and compression are good but it has no spark. it has power through the whole system up to the distributor and after the distributor it loses power..none of the spark plugs are getting spark
