Help please--my LSD blew...

This is super crappy!

I am also reading what seems like Tochigi Fuji changed their name from Tochigi Fuji Sangyo KK to GKN Driveline Torque Technology KK. I don't know if anyone can confirm this but I didn't know it and it happened in NOV 2005. Maybe it is possible to look at them for help if nothing can be done with Mazda.

That s does suck This is why iam adressing my tranny befroe a build . DEATH TO THE TRANNY DESTROYERS

update - supposedly, and i do mean supposedly, mazda has 7 LSDs left on the shelf, and then thats it. i have to pull some strings and see if they will even let me have one, they were pretty adamant about wanting to substitute the open diff. i have to wait for a supervisor to call me back in the morning.

u dont want to use a broken LSD, it usually seperates completely, but even if it didnt , its not a good idea to reuse it.

Word, quaife is the best. I've even forgoten about it now when I always had it in mind with my stocker until it broke that is.

i was under the impression that there are quite a few members who break their lsd, have it rewelded, and it works jsut fine. where does it usually break? i thought at a weld. so if the weld is cracked or completely breaks why not reweld and u are golden. i just dont want to fork out 1400 dollars plus some for a quaife when the stocker is just fine.

just got off the phone with mazda - they superceded the old part number GS01-27-190A (LSD) to GSY1-27-190 (standard), meaning they are trying to phase out replacing the LSD with open differentials. reason being that they no longer want pay the added cost of replacing the LSD :( the inventory system is such that we have to manually check the shelves at the warehouse for the correct part if one is there, then
pull it. typing the old part number in the inventory system merely changes it to the new number. on top of this, mazda has no intention of reimbursing me now that the shop had the carrier welded.

i will be getting a call in thirty minutes with a solution.

Isn't the standard diff part number: G560-27-190A ? If the numbers were superceded to standars diff, then they should have the same part number. Also, has anyone actually verified that this part number is really not an LSD? ( Apart from some non-mazda shop that may have mad a mistake? )

wow this is frickin gay... maby it is time to dump the msp.... This is really bad of mazda on the whole project as a whole, msp - lsd- rods - clunk-- and so on and so on...

^^^^^^^^^^^
ya but not all mazdaspeeds have the same problems, and no one knows if there's will have any problems at all. theres been people that have boosted 15 psi for over a year on a stock motor and they were fine, and the same with the lsd, some have lasted 80,000+ miles and theyre still fine!! the msp just breaks when it wants to!

This is bulls***!!!!!! an open diff?! damn now I really wanna get rid of my car fast!!!

Ken--as of now, will you be able to obtain one of the OEM LSD diffs for me to fulfill my order?

I know this isn't you, it's Mazda. But I'm without a car and the shop's already removed my split diff because I told them the part arrived to my house yesterday--before I knew it wasn't the correct part.

Photos of split diff compared to open one Mazda is tyring to sub

EDIT: first 4 are the open diff they shipped me, and the last photo on the far right is the stock OEM LSD I had the shop remove. There is an internal clutch mechanism on the LSD that is not present on the open diff.

jpg's are all labeled so you know what is what

I don't see any labelling, and from the pictures you posted, it does not look like the standard (open) diff...

the only difference on the "new" one I can see is the welds that should have been there on the initial LSD...
