aiight well as most of you know, i have officially screwed my motor over... mazda says i should replace the full motor and for them to put my stock motor in its gonna cost 4,755.95 give or take a hundred dollars depending on what all happens...

i think a better idea would be to rebuild my current motor depending on the ammount of damage.

keeping in mind that i dont know exactly what is wrong with motor, due to the fact that the dealership more than likely only did a compression test and just said yep its the motor...

my bank is willing to give me a 3500 dollar signature loan, and i'll be selling a motorcycle i have for $2000 plus my old 18's off my lancer for another 300. so im looking at roughly 5800 dollars total money i would have to go into rebuilding my engine... but incase the other things don't go my way lets just leave it at 3500 from that bank, cuz this i know i can get.

so what i'd like for you guys to do to kinda help me out.. what would you buy with the 3500 (max of 5,000) to rebuild the motor, list parts, prices, websites if possible... prices do not have to be exact they can be estimates... make them realistic estimates pls.. also pls don't turn this into a flame wars... if possible pls try to be complete in your findings... example, include the cost of a headgasket kit and whatever other minor cost i will probably incounter by just looking at whats wrong with it... if you want include what you estimate labour would cost as well...

id greatly appreciate it.. i figure this is the best source i could go to many of you know way more about this car than i do and to be honost i dont even know were to start... if at all possible i'd like for the car to be able to handle at least 15 pounds of boost... keep in mind that i do not want to upgrade the turbo... if you want to include fmic and exhaust if there is money left over after the rebuild thats fine, but lets try to focus on the rebuilding of the motor first and formost.

thanks a million to anyone that wants to perticipate.

i would say buy a fsde from a junked car, slap in some forged interals and throw on an aftermarket turbo

however, that is more then what you said above, but you could try to sell of ur msp turbo and keep some of the parts (lsd) (or you could give them to me :D)

first figure out whats wrong with it, then if it isnt bad rebuild that engine u have along with a port and polish, bored over.030, add a supercharger on it (a small one) keep the turbo on it, add forged internals, up the ante with intake and exhaust cams and finally a stand alone fuel management system

edit: oops posted too soon... and when ur all said and done ur gonna have a beast of an engine

and if u cant rebuild ur engine, go to a junk yard and buy one for like 1000 and do what i said above ;)

lol, yeah more money than u have, but do what i said with the engine, add forged internals and better cams along with a port and polish, then as u get more money get ur supercharger and stand-alone

So all the power made by the turbo will go to run the supercharger :-)

isn't it hte other way around. . . you use the supercahrcher to blow the the turbo. . .instead of the turbo mani you use the supercharger to spin the turbo

well the main drawback of turbos is the turbo lag, the time it takes to spin up, and the main prob with superchargers is that it draws on ur torque, it uses belts to spin, if u utilize both u will make them both smaller (with the turbo being a lil larger than the stock one, since u now also have the supercharger) which means, ur turbo spools faster and ur supercharger dosnt draw as much torque out, plus a supercharger adds power off the line, which fuels the turbo which makes it spool faster, then cuz u now have a larger turbo, u will have power at the top end and wont go out on u (a problem with smaller faster spoolin turbos, tho believe they fixed that problem with the T3/T4 hybrid...) so in the end itz more fun :D

edit: sides wouldnt it be fun to say when ur asked whats under ur hood "yeah man, i got a fs-de engine bored over .030 with forged internals, upgraded intake and exhaust cams engine mounts stage 2 turbo AND a supercharger all made to work together by a haltech standalone fuel injection system", then when u pop ur hood to show them they will s*** their pants ;)

Yeah, its not really feasible. Go with a VATN turbo. ( I think thats what they are called) It has a really cool impeller wheel that allows it to spool full seconds before other turbos. Much more relistic and doesn't mean a lot of fabrication.

maybe, but it can be done, just most people dont wanna go through the trouble of having two forced induction systems, thats y in the twin turbo cars most r swapped out for a single large turbo, which also makes their peak power high in the rpm range, they killed their low rpm cuz they added such a large turbo that it takes forever to spool up

Oops, you beat me to that post. =)

Its in Corky Bell's Maximum Boost. Sorry, no link as I am not totally sure they even make them anymore. But I do know they are the fastest spool turbos in the world.

It works by allowing the vanes of the turbo to pivot. Thus changing the exhuast gas velocity, permitting the speed of the turbine to vary.

Basically it starts as a small A/R then gets larger as boost builds.
