Overseas military folks (or anyone who has shipped a car under warranty to Europe),

I may be moving out to Frankfurt this summer. I have a new 08 MS3 and want to take it over there, but am concerned about my warranty. Were any of you able to to transfer your MazdaUSA warranty so that you can use it in Europe? Right now MazdaUSA says my warranty is no good in Europe and that I am pretty much out of luck and if my car dies over there. I think this is is BS. Are there any special military deals or german shops that take a MazdaUSA warranty? I bought my car through miltary auto exchange (i have emails out to them asking the same question).

Danke

Hi, we bought through Auto Exchange as well. As far as I know you automatically have the European warranty. You go to a German dealer, they have to send a fax to Auto exchange and they will then approve wether it is covered under warranty or not.
That's what my dealer at least told me. Hope that answered your question.

Thanks Stelina,

I spoke with MazdaUSA and AutoExchange and found out I will be good to go, but for slightly different reasons that you said. I thought this info might be helpful for other military folks
1. I ordered my car from AutoExchange in Italy (Feb08) while I was stationed there. I bought a 6yr/75K extended warranty from Autoexchange at the time.
2. I picked up the car in the US (July08), and the car was covered by MazdaUSA.
3. Found out in Jan09 I will be going back to Europe in July09, this time Mainz-Kastel, Germany.
4. I discovered MazdaUSA will not honor their warranty in Europe nor can I transfer to MazdaEurope, as they are totally different companies. Both MazdaUSA and AutoExchange confirmed this fact. I was pi$$ed at this point.
5. However, since I purchased the Autoexchange extended warranty, I was covered world wide by them. Had I not, I would have been out of luck with Mazda.

Military folks might consider the transferability of their vehicle warranty if they find themselves in a similar situation.

Stelina, I think since you took initial delivery of your vehicle in Europe, Autoexchange is covering you. When you move back to the states you will probaby go back to MazdaUSA, but I would ask to see if your warranty is still good if you get stationed back in Europe again. I bet not, under the factory warranty.

FWIW, my new volvo factory warranty is worldwide, right out of the box. I spoke with them and they have no problem transferring back and forth from country to country (unlike MazdaUSA who were clueless). At first I was like "I should have bought a frickin C30!", but it all turned out fine.

That blows that it's such a hassle and you just happened to be covered by the extended warranty. You would think with so many service people overseas and automanus starving for business that they'd be more accommodating.

Thank you, that's good to know.
As far as I remember, we were told to have warranty world wide. We don't have the 6 year warranty though. Maybe they should have gone a little bit more into detail. We found the customer service at AE not very satisfying anyway, but oh well, we got the car we wanted :)
So far we're not planning on moving to the states, not at least until 2011 or even later. Then we won't have warranty anymore anyway.

When will you be moving? I was born in Mainz by the way (2thumbs)

We prob will be moving in August. How do you like the area? Where should we live? We need a fairly big place, yard would be nice. Only one kid but we have lots of furniture. Oh, and a garage for my car, lol.

Well, I only lived there for about the first two weeks of my life ;-) So I can't really recommend anything.
My grandma still lives there though. If you work in Mainz, don't go too close to Wiesbaden, it's one of the most expensive cities as far as rent goes.
Are you going to be stationed with the Army?

If you have any more questions, feel free to send a pm.
