Help I cant remember where the cam gear goes

Help We took apart my mazda (1990 mx-6) to put new head gasket and stuff on it. We cant remember what position the cam gear was in when we took it off. It has 1 thru 4 on the outside of the valve gear. Now if we put the number one up should the exhaust valves on the number1 and number 4 pistons be open. I know this is a loaded up question but I am in need of my ride back for work. It has the LTK 2.2 motor. Thank you for the help !!!

if you still have the head off set piston one at TDC via the timing mark on the crank it should point up and then the cam gear will have a mark on it and point it at the one on the crank

Thanks I got it had a blopper moment.Thanks I appreciate the help now if I can keep it from dying when warming up I be a happy camper.
