Alright, so I decided I wasn't gonna buy anything cheap for this car AT ALL and bought a black HKS type-0 turbo timer. I read through everyone's how-to guides a bunch of times, installed, and I must have done something wrong. The car beahves completely normally except the turbo timer turns on and works, just the engine dies when I turn the key to off. I took some pics cause step-by-step seemed to be lacking the other DIYs.
1. Like everyone else suggested, I removed the mazdaspeed sill and left pannel by the dead pedal.
2. I drilled into the back of the tray with the OBD-II and fed the 4 wires I needed through the hole. There is a ton of stuff back there and took me a while. I eventually pulled it all through with a wire hanger. I am not using the e-brake or rpm (auto mode) wires, so I trimmed them and tucked under the unit for now. You should have black, red, green, and blue wires
3. Take apart the steering column (3 screws). I used 16 gauge wire taps. Connect the following.....
red (tt) -> black/red (MS3)
green (tt) -> green/yellow (MS3)
blue (tt) -> yellow (MS3)
4. Ground the black tt wire to the 10mm bolt ground under the left pannel.
***If I did something wrong, PLEASE post up. Like I said the car runs just like there is no tt there. The timer itself functions, but shuts off with the car.
Also, mine hangs out, how did you guys get it to fit like this????? And I thought the black special edition had red display.... guess I'm gonna have to get some film.....
Thanks guys, love this forum, you always help me out!
