Help Help!

Hi Sethro,

No I'm not going to SCCA. I'm based in NC so I'm looking to hook up with others who have the Mazda Pro 5, maybe join the car club as well. Yea looks like I'll go for Eibach springs for now on the stock struts, even though I know they will blow out soon. By that time I hope to save some money to buy the tokicos.

eh, KYB's are awesome and can handle the springs. Tokico Blues aren't much better anyway, my theory is that since Tokico is and OE supplier they just paint stock ones blue and mark it up. Save some cash and go KYB (i'm running them and they are tight).

I would drop it first with Tokico blue and tein springs....and need new endlinks.....then save up for rims....later...

Actually my oem shocks i got from mazda for my pro5 were kybs, as far as i know the tokicos only come on the mazdaspeed?

Can someone verify what stjohans stated is correct? If so, looks like I'll be going KYBs with Eibach Pro Kit.

Well, KYB's are made in Japan. I saw Tokico on my 01 camry struts. I bet they compete for OEM supplier contracts.

Thanks for the info guys. Does anyone know how I can get in touch with the Mazda Car Club here in NC? Also, just a update, I installed the new pulse generator sensor. Hopefully that should do the trick.

Seems like my brakes are going bad? Does anyone recommend a good set of brakes? When I brake, the car pulsates back and forth.

Thanks for all your help!

Based on my research here on the forums, someone mentioned that Centric rotors combined with Posi-Quiet ceramic brake pads make a real good combo. Seems like I'm going to go with this. I just have to find out again if its the brakes or the rotors and whether its front or back.

Run your fingers around the surface of the rotor to see if they're smooth if they're rough or have a lip on them its the rotors

Hello all,

Well I took my car to the mechanic and he said it's the brakes rather than rotors. He said it would be the rotors if the steering wheel shakes when I brake which is not the case. If the rotors are eventually going to wear out, I'd rather change the brakes and rotors. What do you think?

it is usually the best idea to change both the pads and the rotors. ensures a nice smooth surface for better seating. plus, you know they are all new, and you shouldnt have to do them again for a while. ive been going 65K on my brakes.

Yeah, always do pads with rotors. And anymore its almost just as cheap to get new rotors as it is to get them turned.

I wouldnt be surprised if they compete for oem contracts, im sure theres a ton of money to be made in those, all i know is that if i had known the ones my local mazda ordered for me were made by kyb i woulda ordered the kybs online for half the price (unamused)
