Help fast, car on jacks waiting!

Well if i could get the control arm out i would have any problems, but im not sure if a bigger hammer would even help. Ill try though. Is it pretty expensive to have a shop install them?? Any idea?

You need to remove the entire assembly and take it to a mech with a press.. These don't just screw out or pound out like it would appear.. I ended up skipping this mod cuz my alignment guys says the camber was within the acceptable limits.. But you can pull this assembly apart and go to a mechanic. it's just a little bit involved than it would seem..

You need to remove the grease boot. Next remove the circlip that retains the joint on the bottom side of the arm. Then press the joint out. A hammer is not the solution.

Was not able to see any clips from the pics and no press was available that was why I said try and use a hammer if nothing else is available.

Any (modern) serviceable ball joint that doesn't unbolt as an assembly has a circlip. The only time you will not have a snap ring is if the ball joint is a non-serviceable press type.

you need to get a pick, remove the clip around the boot... take off the boot... press the balljoint out upwards.

yes...but acceptable limits, or the recommended factory alignment specs for this car are entirely horrible...

Sorry to awdracer, thought you had hardware removed and was just trying to get it out without press

No i dont have any way of pressing it out. so the hammer WAS a solution for me. May not be a good idea but it was working! So, is there a clip i missed!? Maybe thats why it wouldnt come out! Not the clip holding the boot right?

If you have a big socket like 26mm or bigger or small piece of pipe something to fit over the top of the ball joint, then use a C-Clamp and put one side on the pipe/socket and one of the bottom of the ball joint and then then tighten. I got a couple of different pipe sizes for doing ball joints, bushings etc. Oh and i always put the ball joints in the freezer over night and takes them out right before putting them in, it makes it waaaay easier to go in.

This quote above applies to so many things.....

Now, I don't know WTF clip these folks are talking about. I replaced mine and the old BJs press right out quite easily with a simple BJ press from Harbor Freight. They are knurled around the junction and you MUST make sure they are coming out straight or you will spread/damage the hole in the arm and if you cock them enough, you can pound it until you wear out your arm and they will NOT come out. Also note the only "clip" holding anything in or on is a very thin wire clip around the BJ boot. It does NOT need to be removed. If you have pounded the crap out of the upper arm, you will likely need to replace it.

I ended up using the press from Les Schwab. They let me use theres over night. Couldnt believe it! Anyways, got them out and new ones in and been driving it since. Sorry i didnt update this sooner! Thanks to the guys that did help me!
