Help: Engine Swap

:

People, despite all efforts to repair my damaged engine, Ive decided to swap it. I have already spent more than $800 in parts only, while I have a spare engine sitting on my garage that I brought for $700. Will then use those parts to build a stronger engine.
I need some help on what should I take care with it. I will not open the head, i will just throw in the engine.
All I have in mind is:

1. New Engine Oil
2. New clutch
3. Maybe belts? I may use mine instead of buying new ones.
4. Flush coolant lines
5. Clear the intake/exhaust ports on the head.
6. Open the valve cover an check for any dirt/deposits.
7. I will have to replace the crank with mine (already has the hole for the turbo oil line)
8...???
9...???

what else do I have to take care of?

Thanks

Upgrade the studs to ARPs; balance everything; port and polish...you have it open...may as well take advantage of N/A improvements while you can...

I dont understand...

and...what is ARP?

What you mean with balance everything, if im not opening apart the spare engine, im just swapping in th engine and using the turbo with it while building strong the other.

ARP is fastener company..they make high performance studs for engines under high stress...a simple mod that may save you in the long run if you are building the engine..

Oh ok...but what Im trying to say is....what care should i give to the spare engine that Im mounting in my car. It will not be builded, will be kept like that but with the turbo.
Just a swap! Remember is an engine that has been sitting for about 6 months.
Im not talking about the engine im building.

I think what he's getting at is that he's got a spare engine that he's gonna swap for the blown one in the car. That spare is going to stay stock while he takes the one that is blown and rebuilds it with a turbo.........I think.....

No, no, no. What he's doing is giving up on repairing the blown engine (write off), and just fixing up the spare and using the turbo on that.

right?

and while having the new engine in the car he is going to fix the blown one.

he needs suggestions on what he should do before he is going to do to the engine before he is going to drop it in.

Oh yeah?!?!?! Well......both your mothers wear army boots......(uhm) Ok, I got nuthin. Nor did I pay attention that well either. Fawk.

I'm about as confused as Brittney Spears trying to decide between making bad music and really bad music....

1) Has current blown engine?

2) Bought spare engine for $700

3) Going to install spare $700 engine in Pro.

4) Blown engine will be built up for a turbo?

5) Needs to know what will be needed for current swap with $700 spare.

I am still confused about the crankshaft situation......

Sounds to me like hes going to:

1. install the spare engine in the car
2. put the turbo on spare engine in the car
3. rebuild blown engine to be performance engine
4. take turbo off spare engine in car and put on rebuilt engine
5. replace spare engine with newly built engine

My main question is cant you just live without the turbo while you rebuild your blown motor? Seems like a waste to go through the turbo uninstall and reinstall and then uninstall and reinstall AGAIN after you finish the strong rebuild. Plus, you run the risk of blowing the replacement motor too (again).

s***, I am so confused now... I am going to go watch some Britney Spears videos now... with the sound off...

/\ Telemundo is better to watch.....

I agree with the steps for the turbo install/uninstall and install/uninstall process...

yeah!

im installing spare engine (w/ turbo) and repair and build the damaged engine while im pimping around with my car again.

what should I do to insure that the spare engine will be in good working order. Do I have to change something like....OIL, BELTS etc.

IGDRASIL----Don't forget 3 us qts. of tranny fluid. Seem like you go everything you need. Any onther basic stuff. I would take it off the other motor because you are going to have to strip the block (for bead blasting the block to make it clean) anyway when you rebuild it.

Nice! Looking good! Since your motor is our you should clean up the engine bay to get the clean look. See below.

I know it's not a Mazda but it's a good example. :D
