platinum scratches so easily too and its the same color if she uses her hands she is going to scratch the s*** out of it.

the difference being platinum can ALWAYS be repolished, white gold/reg gold cannot. when you scratch white gold or gold it actually loses a miniscule amount of metal, whereas platinum the metal moves without loss of material, meaning you can have it repolished.

Have you checked ebay? I actually have seen some pretty nice stuff on there (rings wise) Dont know about how comparable the pricing is, but just trying to help

im kinda nervous to buy from them. and its very hard to find people that list the damn width of the ring.

Yeah I was nervous about it too which is why I didn't, but sometimes you can find actual stores that sell on there. As for finding width, email them. Have you tried searching all the typical jewler sites? Gordons Jewelers, Zales, Helzberg, Jared, etc...

I know, no width listed. If you would like I could go and check for you one day. I live like a mile from the mall.

no im sure i could check around here somewhere. im trying to get good ideas. i was at their site. thats where i bought my exwifes set.

i had lots of problems with the ring but their service was good.

matthew- you might want to think about a trip to NYC to buy in person. my wife and i got her engagement ring there in 2002 for $7000. its papers, as well as a recent appraisal, mark it anywhere from 10-14k depending on the jeweler. imo, it's better to go there because:
1- most diamonds that come into the country go through the NYC market (you'll cut out a majority of the middle-man action)
2- you get to see and feel this major purchase 1st hand (would you buy a car sight-unseen?)
3- it's a good excuse to party in NYC for a long weekend
4- jetblue flies from sjc-jfk direct now
5- they gave us a beautiful platinum band for next to nothing.

if you want some more details, let me know. think of this as a major investment. historically, diamonds only appreciate in value, so try to buy * the highest quality you can afford*...

i actually decided to buy from a guy from the diamond district from nyc on ebay...i was worried but this guy has like 1000 100% pos feedback over 3 years or something. 1.10 CT VS quality, exactly what i was looking for.

Have you considered carbon fiber?
