Help! Coolant Temp Guage Skyrockets!!!

can't really tell, but, the radiator hose *looks* ok. It's $8 you can save for later. Unless you want to change em.

Did you check the local autoparts store? It's only 4 in the afternoon in FL and all teh autoparts store are still open here. Or, is it a part you have to get from the dealer?

got a new thermometer but no hose. seemed like a hassle to install : /

but it was also a hassle to get the bottom nut off the housing. no room! but installed it and it runs great, stable tempt. but need more coolant. i lost alot changing it. it like rushed out the thing.

but thanks alot guys it looks like this thread is done!

^^^ That's because you need to drain the radiator before you install the thermostat. There's a little white drain plug at the bottom of the radiator. The next time you need to do anything down there, open the radiator cap and twist the little plug to drain the coolant.

hey, thanks for the thread here, i need to replace my thermometer and this was a big help :)

when i go in to the parts store to buy one, is there only one kind of thermometer for a radiator? (I have a 2002 p5.) Will he know what I'm talking about if I say that? o_0

thanks

No they make differant thermostats that open at different temps. And yes they will know what your talking about. Just say you need a replacment thermostat for a 2002 P5 and youl be good to go. Glad this helped you

just ask for the oem...and a good way to test the thermostat to see if it is your problem is to drop it in a hot water pot and watch the temp where it opens.....

coolbeans :)

I've got Thursday & Friday off, so hopefully I can get my baby fixed then. If not... I'm still stuck with the mani-van. u____u;
