Hi, dear all

Today it is a freezing day and I guess I got a bad luck. The car was working fine until this morning after being driven a short period and parked without problem. The car could start while the reverse didn't work. I then shifted it to Drive, it moved. Is it the transmission going bad? :( A guy told me that it might cost me $1500-2000.

The only unusual thing observed this morning was some noise coming from the hood(don't know where it is exactly from ), but near the air bag of the front passenger's seat. The noise sounded like a fan turning in a box.

Can anybody help me?

It could be several things causing the problem. Check to make sure all the other gears are working correctly. This will rule out a problem with the shift cable. That is a long shot anyway. The 626 transmissions were never very reliable when they got high in mileage. It could be something internal that will require a good automatic transmission mechanic to diagnose and repair.
