2001 Toyota Avalon
hey guys =]

im a recent convert to the church of Mazda. I'm picking up an '09 mazdaspeed3 in grand touring in pearl white this sunday, right after i detail my trade-in (2001 Toyota Avalon).

I'll post pictures up next week after i take her home and get her the initial rub-down ;)

any recommendations on some good reading or videos to waste my time on before i go pick her up? initial performance mod recommendations?

any/all info appreciated.

again, nice to meet you!

i am also a former toyota convert. welcome to the forums! if you need anything in the way of modifications, feel free to drop me a line. there is alot of good information out there, be sure to check out the subsections in the mazdaspeed3 area.

From one n00b to another, welcome. I've been driving my '09 Metro Grey MS3 Sport since September 24th, a little over 2k miles. Helluva nice ride.

From what I read, shifter bushings & rear motor mount are among the first mods most people suggest, followed by an intake. After that, it all depends on what you want from the car. Luckily, there seems to be a decent range of options available.

Welcome man, it doesn't matter what you came from you will love the car! Just get ready to wash a lot, CWP shows a lot of dirt.

thanks guys ;)

glad to be part of the group. ill have pics up in a day or two, going to go in before the end of the month to milk a deal =]

and BillTheCat, thanks for the info! what exactly does a motor mount do for the car? does the ms3 have a weak trait that it corrects, thus you ranking it amongst your recommendations for initial mods?

The new ones don't have a problem motor mount, but the 07's (and maybe 08's?) did. But even on the 08.5/09 models, a stronger motor mount will keep the engine more stable & force more of the available hp to the wheels instead of wasting it on engine hop.

Another reason it comes highly recomended is that it is relatively cheap (in the $100-120 range for the part) and a 10-minute install. I have yet to do it, but as soon as I figure out WTF is wrong with my home PC & fix that, the motor mount is next.
