height

i've been bugging my dad to buy me a used miata because i coudln't find a 240sx~ but people keep buggin me saying that i won't fit inside a miata~ is this true~? currently my height is about 6'1".

you'll fit. if you don't seem to, take out some of the padding from the bottom of the chair and you could probaly squeeze in there.

haha nice .. miatas do seem small but i think youd fit alright ..

I'm 6'2". I tried to sit in a Miata on two different occasions. You won't fit and if you manage to get you legs in, I can gaurantee you it will not be comfortable. My friend also tried, same height as me, and he hit his head twice on the top visor windshield..lol

Say if you do fit and think its comfortable, you will get akward looks when the top is up...lol Your head will be only inches away from the roof.

Just because the car is small?? Whatever. I'm Sure Mazda has taken you into account, 6'1" isn't really that tall.

Well, I've actually tried more than once. Not recommended IMO.

I'm 6'2" and drive my wife's Miata more than my MSP. I fit just fine. Even with the roof up it isn't that bad. Would I want to drive it on say an 18 hour road trip? No. But, for day to day driving they are just fine. My only gripe is that the steering wheel is so close to the door that I can't raise my left knee as much as I usually do when I drive an automatic. Of course if it was a manual (like I wanted) this wouldn't be a problem. Anyhow, answer to the question, yes you will fit. However, when you go shopping be sure to make the test drive a long one and actually position your self in the car how you normally would want to be. Everyone is different, so the only real way to know if you will be comfortable is by atually trying it out.

this is kinda off the topic i started with but could you guys/gals possibly give me tips on how i might "influence" my dad to actaully get me a miata. couple days ago i was sitting with him in the living room. BAM he pops out his little mini Lifebook laptop and goes on ebay finds a miata and bids on it~ well obvisouly its ebay~ its gonna get beat.. but now everytime i ask him something about the car he freaks on me~ i need ways to convince him to actually get me a miata.

how about helping to pay for it if you can't pay for it yourself?

Let your Dad drive one. I think then he'd be convinced. ;)

And Greg is 6' and fits in my miata perfectly. It depends on what the person's idea of "fit" is. The miata is designed to "fit the driver like a glove", not to have a lot of room for you to max and relax.

Besides, you don't want to slide all over the place whilst taking the twisties at a brisk jaunt. ;)

That's probably why I don't think it fits me well. I like to relax too much when I'm driving...lol

heh...that worries me for some reason. ;)
Well, you know I have to put on the 'gansta lean' when I'm profiling for the honies.

Cock the seat far back, left arm on the top steering wheel, right arm on the remote to turn up the tunes...*bass*boom boom tick...boooom*bass*..., sun shades over the face, and the unforgettable nod of the head to the fine chick in the car beside me. Works everytime...lol
