So today was a dyno day at a local subaru shop...

me and subparpunk went to check it out, i had no intentions of dyno'ing but he did.

it was a sad day for us.

Let me preface the results by saying that an 05 STi mentioned to me that stock, on that dyno he made 219whp.

my results were:
246wtq, 212whp.

the differences between our two cars were that subparpunk has the cobb intake, amsoil engine and tranny oil, and a delrin TRZ mount. I just have the mazdaspeed intake. That came out to make a difference of 4hp, and 15lbft of torque, his being the better of the two...

like i said. sad day.

on a happier note, i pre-payed for my accessport ;)

probably a mustang dyno. Sucks that your numbers were that low but at least you have a baseline if you keep using that dyno.

so what that you made 212... i dont get it.

Just tell everybody you made much more. You'll feel better because everybody will be impressed....lol

How do you think I feel a little north of you. I made friggin 270/304 on a dynojet with all my mods. Theres guys gettin that s*** stock almost...

Only thing makes me feel better is that Derk88 got 248/280 with mscai/rp on the same dyno. And he had to ice the intercooler for that. His other runs were worse. We just laugh, and joke, that either both our cars are factory sluts or the dyno just reads low.

Just add a 100 hp whenever people ask. It will make you feel better. Thats what I do...lol

so are you saying that your friend subparpunk had the sti with cobb intake?

Next time we're getting into anything up here I'll PM you. DCR had their openhouse today... but I ended up skipping. Theyre all going to Piedmont tomorrow to race... I might do that. If you guys ever go to Rockingham or something.... give us the heads up and we'll meet.

Im sure Derek would be in too.

Margin of error is pretty high on that kind of dyno. Go for a Dynapack if you can, it negates most of the tire and inertia problems of a roller dyno.

I may have had higher numbers, but I was also knocking on the second run, and then I was knocking like crazy on the way home.

My car is in bad shape right now. God damn bad ass citgo gasoline.

oh also, sean, I'll help you install your accessport if you help me install my stage 2 suspension ;)

I have a feeling the accessport might be a bit easier to install.

dude, i would say that you made out pretty damn well then! the bottom line is who the hell cares about the magnitude of the number, because the only thing you should really be using the dyno for is getting relative results about performance. dyno numbers vary a LOT between dynos, so the useful results you got are that you and your friend are doing similarly well, and you guys are REALLLY close to the stock STI's wheel power numbers, which basically guarantees that you will pull on him from a roll, since i believe he weighs close to 200lb more than you!
