If any of you are sick of that dull grey dirty headliner here is an easy mod for ya. I helped paint my brothers headliner black and it looks awsome. Here is the paint I used:

And here is how it turned out. It looks way better in person, just a crappy cell phone pick:

Nah its easy it just takes some time. Just make sure you don't loose any hardware or clips(even if you did more could be purchased at a hardware store), and just remember where everything goes(lable everything if you have to).

yea i guess...gotta make some measurements on how to take mine out...

over winter break i plan on starting my int job and finish it up by end of summer.

It comes out the front right door. I took mine out this summer and shampooed it. I drive with the windows down a lot and I've noticed this black dirt or dust that accumilates every where.

yea that's right. And it's not easy. But it looked good and clean after.

I wonder if it can come out the back on the P5s. There's some overspray from undercoating spray (I was doing my rear wheelwells with the struts/springs/wheels out and forgot to cover the holes into the interior) on my headliner and I wanna do something about it, whether it just be cover it up by painting my headliner or preferably finding some way to fix it up.

Yah its not that hard but it takes a bit of work. First you need to take off all the pillers including the lower ones. Then take off sun visors, dome light, and oh s*** handles. Then yes the best way to remove it from a P5 is from the rear hatch, and sedens will come out through the doors. Here is a link for a tetorial with pictures I found on www.protege323.com for more help. After clicking on the link you go to the exterior section, then go to the "fully remove roof rack" topic and click on the arrow on your right. This tutorial is for removing a roof rack but you have to remove the headliner to fully remove the roof rack so this will work. Here is the link:

hey sam. Yah we had a mod crazy weekend which included painting interior pieces and blacking out corner lights of my brothers impreza 2.5RS, making an intake and grille and blacking out lights of my friends Dodge dakota, making an intake for my friends subaru, blacking out lights on my brothers motorcycle, and finally removing the goo from shaving my side markers on my P5. So yah you should defenately do this to your car, let me know when and I will help ya.

hahaha...you guys really were busy. you must have started right after you left on Saturday. Hopefully this winter i'm going to get new seats & carpet, so i will have to give the headliner some attention too. =)

some armor all cleanign wipes takes dirt, oil, dust, and finger prints fromt he headliner with relative ease. I hit a puddle and had my window down and i guess the puddle has some oil or grease in it and i had splatters all over my headliner and they came out with one or two wipes.

However, Nice job on the painting good way to change the interior look a little.

not to get off topic but how hard would it be to glass the headliner once its out or does it need to be flexible to remove and install???

I would say you would only be able to fiberglass or carbon fiber the headliner on the P5's because you can take the headliner out the rear hatch. But the sedans you have to take it out one of the doors whitch requires a little bit of bending. So you would be fine glassing the headliner since you have a P5.

dont forget that fiberglass is weak over large flat areas, so if you do this, use several layers and be very careful not to bend it too much or it will crack.

yea, I couldnt se getting the headliner back in there with it fiberglassed...thats a huge flat section

I finally painted the headliner in my P5. I used the gloss black vinyl fabric Duplicolor spray paint. I did four coats which took four cans. Here are some pics:

It turned out really well. It looks like the inside of a limo. It perfectly matchs my black carpet, door panels, and interior.
