how do i change the headlights bulbs on the 04 mazda 6? please help
There are circular covers (with "Y" shape tabs)directly behind them. Twist them one way to come off noting where the words "TOP" are located after you rotate them. Once they are off you will notice a brown wire. That wire is connected to your bulbs remove that wire and the clip to the right of the bulbs by pressing in twards the housing and pull sideways past the lil hook. Take note on the base of the light. It's round most of the way around and one side is flat. In order for the new one(s) to work that flat edge has to be in the same exact place. when removing the bulbs don't drip or touch the Glass portion with your bare hands. place the new bulb(s) in the housing with the flat side where It needs to be. Then secure the clip and place the brow wire back on. before installing the circular covers check to see if the light(s) you replace even work. if they don't work then pull it back out and rotate it. after they both work then place the circular covers.

***Sorry I can't tell you clockwise or c-clockwise cause it's been 5 months since I seen my car :(

well i can see that is how you would change the bulbs, but there is literally no space to work with, is there something else that has to b done to get in there or am i just missin something?

V6? remove the bolt's to the coolant resivior. V6 and I4 have same amount of driver side space :(

you get it yet?

in engine bay the lil brown wire is what I'm refering to.

i understand the wiring and all that, but the space is the issue, i cannot get the space necessary to do the job.

yah that's inevitable though ... unbolting the coolant resorvoir is the only thing you can do on the passenger's side while on the driver's side you just have to squeeze in. FIrst time i did it, i had cuts and bruises all over my hands and tookme nearly 2 hours to fit them in. Sorry but you'll just have to squeeze your way through into there.

o this just sux. maybe i shall just forget the idea, i hated changin the fog lights, let alone now to do the headlights. DAMN NEW CARS!!!!!!! (deadhorse

Dont lose hope (yes) it IS possible ... from what i remember though, if you just get someone to help you out by holding the airbox to the side or the coolant resorvoir ... it won't be too much of a problem. Try it out.

drivers side is same for both models. V6 has the coolant resivior there in the way where the 6i's located between the engine and radiator. I didn't get cuts and brusies till I decided to swap out rear shocks. One task even a minister couldn't acomplish w/o a few obcenities even if it was right there in the church parking lot.

HAHAHAHA (hah)

the task alows only 1 sense at a time. you can either see the bolts but can't turn the wrench from the angle you are to see it. So it's see can't touch it or touch it and can't see it.

welll i finally did the lights about a week ago and i think it was actually easier to change the headlights then it was to change the fog lights, but thanx for the input guys.

Success!

Just wanted to say Thanks! I am not a car mechanic by any means, but the dealer wanted $30 for labor to replace my low beam...your instructions were perfect! BTW this is coming from a woman who has never had to do anything like this!!! Thanks!

COOL!

I just changed the driver side low beam and when I was at the dealer and asked what they would charge, my jaw dropped. The guy said it is tricky (to say the least) but they said they removed the wheel well. My hands were small enough and I used a mirror extension so I could sort of see what I was doing....

today i accomplished switching the low beams, fog lights, parking lights, license plates and map lights on my car

=DD im a light expert now LOL

Yep a dealership charges $30 dollars to swap out a spare tire from the trunk onto the car before labor.

What color did you go with for you map and interior bulbs?

Front map lights are 6led whites
Rear maps are chrome bulbs
License plates are 6led blues
Parking lights are 6led whites

all from superbrightleds.com

fogs are H3 silverstars
Lows are PIAA plasmablues

actualy the drivers side wheel well wasn't a bad idea...when instaling hids with the bumper off you basicly reach up from where the splash guard is. It's a lil more intense than needed but could be done for someone with huge hands. My hands are small enough to change the sidemarkers from inside the engine bay w/o removing them or bumper.
