Hey can anyone in BC help me out with this?

I want to order a pair of the Canadian only P5 headlights with the "blacked out" assemblies. I've called a few dealerships up in BC already (who were incredibly helpful) and they can order one of two assemblies for the P5. Either one caled Aluminum Metal w/ roof rail or the Metal Coat w/ out roof rail.

Since you are the only board members who even had an option between the two when you purchased your cars can anyone tell me which of the two options is the "blacked out" assemblies?

Thanks in advance,

Lang

Huh????

No choice when buying the car on headlights. They all come with the blacked out lights.

And, what do roof rails have to do with headlights????

I have no idea about the roof rails, I just kind of laughed when they read that off. I wasn't aware all the P5s in Canada came with blacked out headlights. I thought it depended on what options that car came with.

In other words my thinking is the cars w/ roof rails had the silver headlights and those without had the blacked out ones. Just a theory though.

If so, your car doesn't have roof ails and comes with out the blacked out headlights right?

Thanks,

Lang

Wasn't an option. There are no factory roof racks on Canadian P% (2003.5). The racks are dealer added (I believe Thule). Bought the car in June 2003 ... all had blacked out headlight surrounds. The only other distinguishing feature in Canada was the side marker turn signals. All the cars have the roof rail inserts (the black strips that run down where the factory roof racks install). Just looked thru my photos, nothing showing the roof.

When buying the car had very limited options in Canada ... auto, sunroof, air conditioning, mini disk player, dealer added stuff like sun roof deflector; some special dealer models (I believe done locally) had leather seats, special rear lamps (carbon fiber?) search Pacific Mazda.

To tell the truth, never even noticed that the light surrounds were balcked out until I had read thru these posts. Thought that would be good looking, but so much work. Then went out and looked again at car ... blacked out. Woooheeee!!!!

I still don't see any connection. Never such options offered we purchased 2003.5. And nothing on lot to indicate any differences.

Thank you, I think you just answered my question. That is the connection. If all Canadian P5s came with no roof rack and all came with the blacked out lights then that means the Metal Coat lights that are listed w/out roof rail (i.e. roof rack) are the ones I need. So, thank you for clearing that up.

02 canadian p5's are not blacked out but crome
03 canadian p5's are back out headlights i do belive
is that right?

The only factory options on the 03' P5 were air, sunroof, auto, leather, and chrome wheels. All Canadian 2003 P5's have the black housing, so if you order them get 2003.

Well, already ordered them. I got them from www.mazdaformance.com which is in Texas. I gave them the part number I got from a Canadian delaer, so I'll just cross my fingers that it's the correct assembly. If not, you'll here me on here bitching and moaning in a few days. lol.
