Has your engine died?

I'm hoping 15k isn't the norm for this tranny as I'm @14k right now...(nervous)

Friend of mine had his transmission go up at 15k, they wouldn't cover it under warranty either. He had to pay out of pocket and to this day it still isn't the same.

Why would they not cover it under warrenty?

Because it's up to them if they want to say, "Yeah it's a maufacture defect" or it's "Through driving abuse". It's bulls*** if you ask me, but it's how the ball rolls I guess. There has been other occasions where forum members' clutches have gone up and Mazda wouldn't cover it. I'm sure if you pursue it you could get somewhere, but you shouldn't have to.

For a clutch going out, thats very easy to blame on the driver. As far as a bad tranny, thats bogus to point at the driver. Generally, there is no hard evidence that it was thrashed on unless there is rubber in the wheel wells and no tread left on the tires.

The tranny in my Subaru started making noises at 57k and was replaced with no questions at all. I had to remove the downpipe, midpipe, and reflash back to stock, so if one were to look hard enough, they could have voided my warrenty then and there.

The funny thing is, Ive always heard horror stories about Subaru denying warrenties, I switch to mazda, and it seems even worse!

I think if my tranny or something major like that went out for no good reason I would sale it right after I got it fixed.

Well a transmission going out could mean different things. Could be a clutch, flywheel, syncros, cracked housing. It just so happens his clutch went out as did his 2nd gear syncro, his flywheel was also somehow effected. He really ****** up his tranny and I don't know how it was possible. I'm into spirited driving, but you must really drive hardcore to do something like that. I think he mentioned when he was going like 60mph and accidently slammed it into 2nd when he ment to put it into 4th.

what kevo didn't state to you is that he doesn't have an ms3 but an ms6. and also wouldn't a hole in the piston say something was sucked into the engine where as detonation would lead to a hole in the side of the block? and also going from the other post he has in the ms6 section, its been said the motor hasn't even been takin apart so i want to know how a hole in the piston was even diagnosed.

No compression in a cylinder without any exterior damage would say a lot.

If the motor experienced pre-ignition, then there could have been a hole burned in the piston. Thats my bet.
