Anyone having trouble gettin wheels? i've heard our offset is 50+ and all the wheels i like are like 40+. does everyone here w/ aftermarket wheels have something other than a 50+ offset?

Ours are actually +52.5 offset.

You can safely go with a +48 offset, if you go to a 7" wide wheel. I've heard of people using +42 and +45 but I have my doubts about the usability on that.

17x7 +40mm offset gets the okay on TireRack.com

Knowing tireracks good reputation, I have confidence that if they suggest 17x7 with a +40mm offset.. then that should fit fine without rubbing. If the rim you want is equivalent in size with rims that tirerack allows for (and assuming you'd use similar tires to what they allow) I say go for it.

ex. I hit up their site for a 2005 Mazda3 5-door, and the first rim I clicked on was the AR1:

Size Selected: 17x7
Price: $179 each
Estimated Availability: In Stock
Recommended Tire Size: 205/50-17
Wheel Offset: +40mm
** Lightweight: 20.7 lbs. **

Additional Specs
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Finish Warranty: 1 Year

tire racks recommendations are for cars that aren't lowered. if you lower it, go for the +48. i'm not sure how much room is under there, but on the p5, you could go to a +45 on a 7' wheel.
