You need to balance your diet, It calories you have ot watch out for not carbs, I lost over 100 pounds, you can loose the loose skin you have to do alot of running and your skin will tighten up. There is always time for working out, i wake up at 4:30 in the morning to exercise. I went from 285 pounds, 44inch waist, 28 percent body fat to 190 pounds, 32 inch waist 13 percent body fat. I feel you on the surger i went under 7 hour surgery to fix my jaw, i woke up with my mouth wired shut, they gave me tylonal with codeine to ease my misery still got the bottle (some my firends actullay want to buyti off me). Surgery sucks

i've noticed that calories and carbs like to go together too. so if you eliminate one, you are helping with the other. for example, pop tarts. 200 calories each, and about 40 carbs each. i used to eat them everyday. then one day i actually looked at the package and was like (boom04) now i eat quaker fruit and oatmeal bars for breakfast. 130 calories, and 9 sugar carbs. MUCH better for me, still not ideal, but much better nonetheless. same thing with regular pop. TONS of sugar and a bunch of empty calories. not worth it.

hey, I think it is great you lost 80pounds. Having been there myself.
at my worst I weighed in at ~235. Being diabetic all my life I never really drank normal sodas so that wasnt part of the problem? I rarely ate Fast Foods? I don't eat breakfast. I was like. WTF, why do I weigh so much? I was a bean pole 15 years ago? What happened? I really believe it is genetics but regardless of what I think. I decided just over 6 years ago when I weighed in at a hefty 235 I needed to change something. Basically I started exercising everyday and eating smaller, more freuqent meals, trying to keep my caloric intake less than what the books say my body needs to function? I guess you could say it was a form of starvation. Also considered the Hacker's Diet. After being on the diet for a year I got down to 174 at my lowest(175 was my goal) and now currently hover around 185 which I am content with... it is a lifestyle change. btw, My wife works for Dayton Plastic Surgeouns office and talks about procedures and the liposuction sounds like it may be the most painful depending on how much/deep they need to go...

Its been awhile since i studied on this but 1 Gram of carbohydrates equals 4 calories, 1 gram of fat equals 9 calories more calories equals more fat and carbs .As stated you loose weigt by creating a negative within your body i.e. you usually take in 1,500 but burn 2,000 calories for tha day thus creating a negative so your body has to taps into it reserves using it as energy. Also as mentioned above eating small meals ever 2 and half to 3 hours keeps your metabolism up cause it always working. If you a longer tiem without eating and eat a bigger meal your metablism will be slow to burn it of and you might now use up all the energy so it will be stored away as fat. As about junk food and such you can eat them you just have to moderate your consumption i.e once or twice a week compared to everyday.

liposuction scares the s*** out of me...

the way they wave that wand around under your skin on the belly :eek2:

Chemist's POV:

In all actuality, carbs, calories, and fats are all the same thing: different variations of sugars. Sugars, are the most simple form of energy, and usable energy is a Calorie (actually a Kilocalory, or 1000 actual calories). Your body needs calories as principal energy source, so you need them to survive. The best type of calories ar simple sugars (natural sugars, i.e. friuts/veggies, and glucose) because they require very little alteration by your body to use in the form of energy. Complex sugars are carbs. Basically, all carbs are is long chains of simple sugars. There is more energy in carbs as regular simple sugars, but your body takes longer to digest them into usable form. This is why when you are doing a very strenuous activity, it is best to eat carbs the night before, so your body has enough time to break down into usable sugars. During strenuous activity, simple sugars are best because they are ready to use immediately. Fats are simply sugar molecules that have been rearranged in a way that makes them very difficult to digest. There are many diff. types of fats as well, but without getting into it. Fats can also be used as energy, but it takes your body a lot longer to break down.

So basically its like this: your body prioritizes the easiest way to get energy at that moment: sugars first, carbs next, fats at last resort. If your body does not require the energy that you consume, it gets stored for future use. This is weight gain folks: consuming more energy or improper energy than your body needs.

The way i diet is always keeping in mind what foods to eat. Obviously calories need to be consumed, as do carbs and fat believe it or not, but i try and prioritize based on what is available.

sorry if i confused anyone.

Yup...you did...LOL!
My meds are at least keeping the edge off the pain right now....I should not be as sore tomorrow...I'll be at 72 hrs. then...I hope I can still go back to work on monday as planned...I will definately have to be easy on myself for about a week.

This thread is worthless without pics. I'm sorry, I had to say it. Not that I want to see your lipo holes because I watch plenty of cosmetic surgery on TV to NOT want to see anymore on a car forum. lol But take some pics of the after product, I'm interested to see it.

My only problem with myself has never been my weight, its been where the weight actually GOES. In high school I was a size one and weighed 93 lbs. When I joined the Marine Corps and got out of boot camp, I was a size 3 and weighed 103 lbs of lean muscle and 3% body fat. They kept us on a strict diet and I dont even wanna bring up how much activity and work we did every day. It was NUTS. When I was preggo with my kid, at 9 months, I weighed 143 lbs. After he was born, within one month, I weighed 121 and was now a size 4-5 due to the expansion of having child bearing hips.

It's been 9 years since then and I weigh around 115 lbs on average. I work out 3 times a week or when I can (due to my schedule and spending time with family). Whats funny, is my lower half is between a size 6-7 but the rest of me is still a size small in clothing. I'm 34-24-36. And for the life of me, I CANNOT get rid of this J-Lo booty and thighs. lol I dont like cardio as much as I like lifting weighs, which I'm sure doesnt help. I leg curl about 55 pnds and squat only about 120. I'm thinking that I need to lay off doing that much weight, get back to doing more cardio on the step master or running (which I hate because my shin splints flare up) but it'll cut down on my legs getting too big. I always know that in order to tone up I need to do more reps and less weights, but I'm still not leaning up as much as I think I should.

And no, I have NO CLUE how much calories I take in a day or anything. I'm not numbers smart. All I know is that I eat maybe 4-5 times a day, but each a small meal or snack. I dont usually go with two large meals and lots of in-betweens. I try to lay off having too much fast food and usually end up eating Italian, latin home cooking and lots of chicken. My typical day is strawberries or orange juice for breakfast, sandwich and water or sprite at lunch, sunflower seeds or nuts for a snack in between, and spagetti or chicken fingers for dinner. I may have a small snack sized chocolate bar in between. If I dont have chocolate sometime during the course of the day, I get cranky. I think most women do. lol But I've always had a fast metabolism and I come from a "petite" family. None of us get really big or get huge muscles in the toned sense. My parents just say it's a Puerto Rican thing. Everything you eat goes right to your ass and thighs. lol

wow, well said. I actually understood it.

I'v ehad weight problems that pic i showed that was me when i was 16 and i had 44 wasit xxl shirts were getting small for me. I busted my ass to get down to 190 with 32 waist wakin up 4:30 am 5 days a week than goin to work 8 hours it ain't easy, my metobolism is slow when i don't work out but when i do it pretty fast and i can get away with eating junk food and still be ripped, I gained a little weight cause i got girlfriend and got lazy but soon i will be back in tip top shape. I do 3 days weights, 3 days cardio.

I wish I had enough time for that or at least the will power. At 30 it's getting a little harder to make time and effort enough to hit the weights. But mowing the lawn, chasing the kid around and my job keeps me pretty occupied and in shape. People still say I look 23 or younger, so I'm happy with that. I just want a little more definition and loose some of the thigh area. I cant do crap about my hips, but it doesnt look bad after so many odd crunches. The slight muscle line from my belly to my pelvis all matches up. So oh well. I aint no Britney Spears, but I'm sure as hell not a Christy Ally either. lol

Are there any medical type people in here...I was just wondering how much they actually took out...They told me it was 1550 cc's....What is that equivalent to?
Matt

Holy cow... 3 pounds? Wow.... just wow. I know you're still in pain and all, but at least you should see a huge difference soon.

1550 cc's is cubic cm's, which equals the same in mL. so volumetrically, you lost 1.5 Liters of body volume. By wieght, close to 3 lbs, but it varies depending on fat density, etc.

Yeah Yeah...I got it...I know it depends on volume and density...I was just wondering a ballpark...And I wont see a difference for a couple of weeks...I am really swollen up right now from the surgery so its hard to tell a difference. Not to mention I have to wear this abdominal binder to hold everything nice and snug.

Free medical advice of the day follows below. Disclaimer: this is my personal opinion, and in no way an official medical consult nor associated with the institution with which I am associated.

Now, with all of that legal s*** out of the way I can offer my 0.02.

I deal with post-operative pain on a daily basis and prescribe analgesics so often that it has become second nature. A person's response to painful stimuli is very individual and is hard to guage a priori. However, it is universally true that if the stimulus is great enough a patient will metabolize whatever they are given for analgesia. Typcially, we will order whatever it is that we believe is warranted by the degree of pain that we expect. If they ordered Oxycocet/Percocet rather than T3's they are generally expecting you to have reasonably severe pain (6 or 7/10 on a 10-point pain scale).

In addition, I will frequently advise patients to take their medication if they find that they are even thinking that their surgical site begins to hurt. As a result of the time that it takes to metabolize an oral analgesic it is important to take the medication before the pain is at its worst. If the patient does not do this there will be a long delay between ingestion of the medication and the time it enters the bloodstream. This allows the pain receptors to become sensitized so that they respond more actively to any stimulus. What does this mean in plain english? The pain becomes more difficult to treat with a given amount of analgesic the longer that you wait. Therefore, if one Percocet would treat your pain after 30 mins, it might take 2 Percocets after 60 mins, etc. The longer that you wait, the harder that it is to get on top of the pain. It is always easier, and takes less medication, to get on top of the pain right from the start rather than waiting until the pain is bad.

The bottom line? Take what you are given as directed from the get go. It will be easier to treat the pain and it will take less analgesia than if you had waited until the pain was worse.
