I traded my 2009 Pontiac G8 GT for a 2012 Mazda3 i Touring w/ Skyactiv about 3 weeks ago. Obviously it's a big change, but I'm happy with my decision. The lowest mpg I've gotten so far is 32 mpg in mixed driving and the highest is 36.3 highway (w/ a strong headwind). I had to ditch the G8 because the note and gas were killing me. I was also about to drop $1,000 on tires, which kind of pushed me to start looking for something else. I knew it makes zero long term financial sense, but was able to convince myself that the money saved in gas and note would keep a lot more money in my pocket monthly. While I definitely miss those 361 ponies, I am absolutely loving my 3. To call it "zippy" would be a disservice. It is quick enough down low, and very impressive on the highway. I'm looking into some appearance add ons (I really wish I had sideskirts and foglights), but I'm more than satisfied w/ the combination of economy and performance. I've been trolling on this board for about a month now, and am trying to learn all I can about these cars.
I was loaned a base Mazda3 to drive while my car shipped. While it wasn't a bad running car, I can say without a doubt that the Skyactiv superior in everyway.
