Guages

Yeah, and i'd ditch that dinky plastic hard line it comes with for a higher quality silicone vac line.

Bumping this because another member told me I should do oil temp in addition to or in place of oil pressure. Here is what he said about it

They're both important, and if possible I would, and do, have both. But if I had to give one up, it would be the pressure gauge.
You already have an idiot light which is not perfect but something. If you lose that much OP, your engine is probably due for a tear-dowm anyway, or it won't survive.

What you don't have is a way to tell you when it's OK to run hard... say above 3000 RPM's.
You are in cold country and to me that makes it even more important. You might have water temp long before you are up to operating oil temp.

Opinions on this?

Oil temp would be more crucial if you were tracking the car, so you could monitor it throughout a run. Daily driving i don't see it being a real big issue.

I have another question about the boost gauges. I found the difference with pricing on them.......I didnt know there was a mechanical and a full sweep electric boost for autometer cobalt. What are the pros/cons to these? Is mechanical a bad way to go?

For all your gauges just get electric ones. I know they are more expensive but they are much more resistent, effective and precise. Not to mention you only have to route wires in the cabin.
I finally found a deal on ebay for my boost gauge and it works like a champ. It is an autometer ultralite series. I have talked with Autometer at the SAE Word Congress and they seemed to know their product and they were proud of it.

I am not saying that defi are better or worse but i think that autometer offer a great product especially if you go electric.

I am not sure if it has been mentioned in the thread, but now autometer as Wideband, LED illuminated, and a dimmer to control the gauges.
