Guage Pod

I just purchased the 3 guage pod that goes on the dash in place of the top compartment above the center dash. I have looked through all the threads and I can't seem to find a way to remove the lid. I have pretty much taken out the entire center console and had that top compartment by itself. I just can't seem to find a way to take the lid off without trying to break it.

I have pictures if it is needed but im hoping someone can help me out with out needing to post them. I am new here, but just reading for a couple months before I decided I was going to purchase this guage pod. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if this will help but I've seen pictures of 3 guage pods on here and it looks like they just left the lid in place and had clearance for the pod.

I was trying to figure that out but I see two problems with that. My goal is to not break the latch if I don't have to. I don't have the guages yet but I just got this from my gf and I was trying to find a way to make it all work out.

I don't think it would cover the latch(opening mechanism).

I don't quite know how the wires would run from the guages to wherever they need to go.

Well I didnt do mine but its a pain in the butt, there was a link somewhere on how to do it but not sure where it is. you have to remove the glovebox for sure. then youll see a bolt on the side of the radio after the radio comes out its easier to get the rest out. Thats just a couple of the 1st steps after that I cant help much... I was mostly just watching. As for the wires we put a hole in back of the center compartment and ran them behind the pedals. There is a hole up behind your pedals where the factory wires run through the firewall.

You have to pull the radio b4 you can get the radio display and top compartment off,
1 pull your cup holder up,
2 take the trim around the shifter off,
3 remove the two screws in the bottome radio trim assembly under the shifter trim peice.
4 drop the glove box by removing the string on the right side,
5 remove the 1 10mm bolt securing the radio into its "cage"
6 and the yank the radio and vent assbly out.
7 then pop off the radio display and top compartment.

Yeah ....thats how ya do it ! lol and he should know !

To remove the top lid from the storage console, I had to drill out the clips. It uses a long internal c-clip, and I tried to get it out so one day I may be able to put it together, but I gave up, so I drilled out the c-clip. Good Luck!

when i did jaxjeffs i just basically "stretched" the sides enough to take it off.

so basically this process isn't reverseable? I really rather not break it if I don't have to but by the looks of it the only way to go back to stock is to buy that compartment again.

When I took mine apart I used a screw a little larger than the round metal retainers that hold the lid to the base. Just thread the screw in until it catches the metal retainer and you can pull it right out....
