2001 mazda protege mp3
hey guys. I recently bought a gt28r turbo kit, and was wondering exactly how many pounds of boost would be safe to run on a stock protege motor. Im trying to get a little bit more power, but really don't want to risk blowing my motor. I figured about 6 pounds would be safe, but want your guys opinion on how many pounds I should run.

An engine management system (ems) would be an aftermarket mod. it didn't come stock in the MSP. An ems is a valuable tool for proper tuning when going after big performance mods like a larger turbo.

I'm using the stock MSP ECU and running 9.5lbs. Haven't had any issues, but am only putting down @170 to the wheels. I think it's just a tired, weak motor, but someone mentioned I may have a boost or exhaust leak since i don't hit full boost til about 4000 rpm.

6 pounds if safe for the stock fuel system, just have to increase the duty

cycle a little bit. The emanage is really user friendly especially if have the

optional MAP sensor.
