GT Championship on Speedvison 8/9

:
03.5 Titanium MSP
I was watching this cool GT race with integras, rsx's, bmw 328's, focuses, and mazda protege ES's.

It was badass and the protege's were all turbo'ed so they must have had a bunch of MSP mods  and the top 3 were: 1. BMW 328, 2. Protege, and 3. Protege.

:D go Mazda!

Was this for SCCA World Challenge? Because our cars run in SCCA World Challenge Touring Cup against the RSX-S, BMW, IS300, AUDI. Where they Blue and White? If they were, they should have said Tri-Point Motorsports. We had a bad race last week in Ohio. Shauna Marinus got intentionally hit for trying to pass one of the RSX drivers. =( Jeff Altenburg wheel feel off while in 3rd place. =( Just bad luck

You are talking about the SCCA World Challenge Touring Cup.
In the Touring Cup the cars are not allowed to have turbos.

Check out the car facts here:

doh (hand)

it was about 3:30 a.m. so I guess I wasn't paying much attention, but nevertheless it was neato.

(woowoo)

yeah, that's about my fave racing series to watch on Speed (next to motorcycle racing of course). Last race I watched the MSP's came in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th....it was awesome. They have really good in-car coverage and they sound wicked! I'm curious to see what they do with that new SE-R too....it's been pretty impressive for a brand new racecar.

Granted they are brand new but they have probably been tested for a while before they put it on the track. Just like when Real time converted over to the RSX-S's we are pretty sure that it was tested alot (maybe not perfect). For example our Proteges have been in development for the past 3 years and we are finally tuning it for the best possible performance and we have proven it this whole season i.e. 2nd and 3rd two races in a row. Numerous amount of opportunity to be top 5 for the races before that.

just want to point out that these are NOT MSP-modified racecars, rather, IIRC, they are bought as empty Protege frames (yes, those lowly non-turbo, non-orange Proteges you see everyday) and built from scratch.

so they evolved from Proteges, just like how MSP is based on teh lowly NA stock Proteges :D

just want to make that clear so the MSP guys don't get TOO MUCH of an ego boost (like they need any) :D

Haha, I don't think theres gonna be any Proteges next year... atleast from us. We are starting on the new Mazda 6's. =) wish us luck!

Not necessarily. Some were showroom cars. Most, if not all, of OPMs Proteges were, at one point, a complete, street legal car.

Unfortunately, OPM no longer races in SWC.

HondaToMazda, good luck with the 6! Keep us informed of the progress and stats.

Good Luck!

Can't help wondering though. Why go to the Mazda 6? I test drove one before buying the MSP and it felt heavy to me. I'm so used to a car under 3000lbs that even though the 6 got great reviews for handling, it just didn't feel 'tossable' to me.

I'm sure you have great reasons, so why the 6?

HeHe, after stripping out the car it's weighs about 2,600 lbs. Right now we are making the roll cages so far.

EDIT: I'm sorry it doesn't weigh that much I was wrong. I'm not exactly sure on the 6 because we got two different ones. We have not weighed the correct one yet. Our Proteges weigh about 2,350 w/ Driver
