Group Tint

Hey guys and gals. We discussed having our Protege's getting tinted last Fall. So anyone interested in doing a group tint now? We can start making calls for prices.

Jay, Lisa and I got tinted last month and Dan's getting his wife's 5 tinted this week. You can see who else wants to get tinted still. Good luck. :)

I got a hook up thru a coworker and got mine done in Clinton, MD for $135. :-D
I think Lisa got her's done in VA and paid like $220? I could be wrong on that # though.

I am looking to get mine done soon. There's a local place where all kinds of people from Philly to Dover, to NoVa come to get their tint done. It is the BEST in the area, but it also costs a little bit more than some other places.

To get my 20% all around I think would be $240...but they also have this really cool warranty thing you can buy for $70 where if you ever get a Repair order(In MD you dont get fined, you get an RO to take the tint off within 30days and get it inspected by a State cop at the MVA) they will switch it back to legal tint for free...it also has the standard lifetime no fault warranty and all that.

Im not 100% on the $240 price either...it might be lower, and Im not sure what they would do for a group. They are pretty busy as it is.

hey ray, my gf's bro got his gti tinited 25% all around for 180...i would guess a 4 door protege would be 200-220 range ....i still gotta do mine since i canceled my last appointment....

I am in VA
So If I get 20% for $240 and pay the $70 extra, I can get legal tinting later?
Ummm - but is that worth it? 70 extra, plus somewhat pricy tint to start with, plus at least 50, usually 75 for extra dark tint (ticket in VA). I think its smarter (and easier - in terms of reducing the potential for hassle) to just tinit it at a safer limit in the first place - say 35ish all around? (VA legal is 50 fronts, 35 rears) Also - doesn't it mess stuff up to have to remove cured tint, clean off the windows and reapply a fresh layer? How effective is their tint-removal process etc?

Anyway - if you folks fenangle a nice 200-ish price for a sedan in the NoVA area, for a decent shop/tint with lifetime warranty - I'm in (I'll prolly go with 50% all around - ultra-safe ;) )

Good luck on finding someone that will give you a good price on the group buy. I called a bunch of places last fall and couldn't really get 'em to lower the price. Problem is getting everyone in there at one time to get it done as the tint places are all busy. I got mine done at California Tint in Baileys Crossroads and the guy did a great job! :)

yeah, the only way to get a discount on group tinting is if you go like before noon on a tuesday when they are usually dead.

Tru - and that ain't happening. Saving 20 bucks is not worth taking time off work over. Oh well - guess I'll rustle up some quotes, and get mine tinted one of these days. A hot day like yesterday really make you want to get off your butt about it (in more ways than one ;) )
