Ground Control coilovers

i would like to know what ground control coilover is?? does it loweer the car?? where can we get those???

Ground control coilovers are simply a eibach spring that has a device in the middle where you can compress and decompress the spring, which gives you tha ability to adjust the ride hieght of you car. Which means you are in control (ground control). Plus the springs are higher rate, Which means they are stiffer for better performance. You can get the kit for $399 at www.groundcontrol.com
Just don't lower it all the way or you will run into some probs later. (shocks and struts will fail). But you could just swap out the coilovers for your factory springs, and take it in for warranty!!!!

its called coilovers its a 3-3.25 cylinder that fits over the shock or strut with a progressive rated spring around it.most kits drop the car roughly 3.25 inches or raise the car 1 inch over stock the cylinder is threaded so you can lower it to any height.Hope this helps.I loved them on my honda.

Yep, it's a threaded collar that is used over the strut, and the spring sits on it. So you turn the collar and the car either lowers or raises. And it uses the Eibach E.R.S. system, which Eibach uses a standard spring size and they change the spring rates. So, if you want a stiffer ride, you can change out the springs with stiffer E.R.S. system springs without the hassle have having a different sized spring.

The Tockicos on the MP3 can't really handle a sever drop, not more than 1.5" for all that long or they will fail. I heard the Mazdaspeed adjustable struts from Corksport can handle over 3" drops.

If you want a solid set-up for adjustable coil-overs, I would go to AWR Racing. They developed one of the Speedvision World Challenge Proteges. Good quality stuff.

The lowest we can go on the Tokico's is 2 inches. Any more than that you'll risk damaging the shock, possibly other vehicle parts too. Of course that situation is highly unlikely but hey. 1.5 lower is where I'm headed, no need to slam the car for daily driving...maybe for show though I dropped my APEXi WS Coilovers all the way a couple of times on my EX and absolutely hated it as far as street drving went, way to harsh. For daily drving and a good drop, the GC's should do fine. Until someone releases a full coilover kit with re-enforced swaybar mounting brackets, I'll be aiming for the GC's. Just my .02 cents

I haven't seen the AWR coil overs up close and personal but I'm willing to bet they will do the trick. From what I've heard most aftermarket shocks (Mazdaspeed, Koni) for the Protege have that reinforced mounting bracket like the Tockicos.

I know it isn't an MP3 but I have the ground-controls on my Protege5. I have pics on my web site if you would like to take a look. YellowPR5 The bronze rims are 18". All the pictures show the coil-overs at the HIGHEST setting. Hope this sheads some light for you.

Dude that looks awesome!!! Im glad someone finally put up a pic. Also, how far of a drop is that, and is that the kit i would use for my MP3? Did you have to put a Camber kit on it? Also can you turn completely like used to? How about the ride on the coilovers? One last thing, would you say it is easy to adjust? Sorry for all the questions but i am going to buy them the day after christmas and i want to make sure that these are really good(groundcontrol) Thanks yellowPR5!!!

I emailed him and he told me that those pics are of the coilovers all the way UP!!He said he could go lower but the 18's would rub!He said it was a little bit bumpier but not bad!Im buying some now Ill show pics when I get em on!!

initialRES:i had a civic ex coupe with ground control installed them myself with tokico adjustables very easy but Found out on the tokico's you have to cut the cups in order to fit the spring into the perch.shocks are easy struts are a little tricky.Im getting the ground control's this week for my MP3.
