So I have a greddy type rs used. It came w/o any bolt or anything in the top of the bov and it is setup for recirc. I opened it up and it has 2 black springs inside. Check my sig for mods, I am wondering what is the best setup with this valve and my mods. Do I need to have that bolt scewed in the top??

keep both springs, get the adjustment screw and adjust it. it doesnt work like a forge... it has a screw with a nut on the top that adjust the tension. you are suppose to tighten or loosen the adjustment screw until the valve stays shut at idle. that is all the adjustment does. without it there is no tension and a good chance the valve is leaking at idle. under vac and boost the adjustment wont do anything cause the vac nipple and boost pipe see the same pressure and cancel each other out. not trying to be mean and hope that helps.

Okay so the nut that is on top of the BOV needs to be adjusted so that at idle the valve stays closed. do I have to just adjust the nut or do i have to take apart the bov to adjust the tension?

well the nut should have a screw with a allen key design. you loosen the nut, then turn the screw with a allen key. do not tight the nut first it will strip. the nut is just there to make sure the adjustment screw stays put. it sounds like the adjustment is tightened a lot so it might be flush with the nut. can you take a picture of the top of the nut for me? but like i said be sure not to tighten the nut first. loosen nut adjust screw tighten nut. and it doesnt need a lot of torque. but if you wanna do it here is what i did.

Block off the stock recirc hose with a battery(c or d dont remember) unbolt the valve and turn it around and bolt back to car(this way you can see the piston inside). start the car, and watch the valve if it stays shut tight, try loosening till it bounces then tighten till it is closed and give a quarter turn. done. if you start the car and its loose(valve is bouncing) tighten till its shut then give a 1/4 turn. tighten nut. shut off car. flip around and rehook to recirc(put everything back the way it was.) that should do it.

Yeah I don't know how comfortable I am trying that. But here are the pics.

well looking at the adjustment i gotta ask is it upside down? is that screw tapered, if it is its upside down. bought new or used? well its missing the sticker that says hard/soft but no biggie. get back to me on the screw taper, cause it looks upside down. does it have a allen key type head? if it does then you would loosen the nut then adjust.

I bought it used and no it doesn't have an allen key head. it is just a bolt. So should the head of the bolt be on the other side with the nut then?

i think so, its look backwards cause its the right diameter and has a little taper i was looking for. if your brave just loosen the nut and take it out. look at the other side and if it has the allen key head its definately backwards. wont hurt it just be care full to baby the threads(i stripped one once).
