Got beat by an SE-R in the 1/4 mile.

Man, I thought I had it won. I jumped out in the lead, and was actually up by about 2 car lengths. I led the entire race until the very end. He won by .192 seconds. My time was 17.836 at 76.91 MPH with a .652 reaction time, and his was 17.127 at 81.37 MPH with a 1.165 reaction time.
He would of won pretty easily had we had the same reaction time. Both of our cars were bone stock. But I think it was a pretty tight race considering that his car had 25 more HP on mine.
 
isnt a 17.8 really slow for a mp3. i had a 90 hp and 155 lb-ft 2001 golf tdi. and i ran a 17.89 in the quarter with a rt of .59. i beat all the magazines in my time so i was pretty happy about that when i did it.
 
man just keep at it with enouf of practice you shoud be getting low 17's or even high 16's, in the race you where at i dont think reaction time counts eny whay it's when you start going the time starts :p
 
a new SER ran a 17?!?! That is so slow. I thought they would be much faster. Oh well. Honestly, you should have been killed by this guy, but hell you almost won and it doesn't matter what should have happened. I remember I went to the track one time, and this CRX that had a s*** load of stuff done to it, wanted to race me. I told him it wouldn't even be close, but he didn't care so we raced for fun. Well he REALLY screwed up his launch so I beat him by about 3 car lengths. Yeah he should have beat me, but I won. It's always fun hanging with cars that seem out of your league.
 
I haven't took my MP3 to the track yet, but I've street raced a couple of times. I first raced a 1996 celica gt w/ exhaust, intake, and headers, beat him by a car from a 20 roll. Next, a 91 civic si hatchback and beat him b 3 cars, then lost by 1/2 car to a 2000 escort zx2, he had headers, intake, msd, exhaust, and aftermarket pulleys. All I have is a cai, custom made, and rerun the exhaust line, taking the resonator off. It was pretty suprising to win them races, but I'm hoping to get my car in the future to be able to compete w/ my friends wrx, maybe a dream , but w/ turbo, and a spool up nos kit, could be a reality????? :D
 
damm Guys i can't believe that the Se-r ran that slow in the 1/4mile cause last week i had a problem with my side mirrors it wasn't working i call Selmaautomall and they saifd bring it in and they see what's wrong with it. Anyways i went there they took the MP3 and i browsed around alittle Bit and looked at the SE-R and the SE-R Spec-V one of the Nissan Dealers asked me if i could be helped, i told him no i'm just looking wasting time cause My MP3 was getting checked with the Mirrors. I asked him what the Retail on that car they had a few of them listed different cause they had different colors and autotranny. He said they all took the mitsubishi,honda,mazda,hyundai,suzuki,kia,nissan,and acura 4-bangers and ran um, they said that the Civic EX and Eclipse Gs didn't even stand a chance with the Spec-V and that this babe was the fastest 4-cylinder you can find right Now. I told him in my mind (shut the fu** up with that man) i didn't care so i asked him if the Si and the ITR was faster he there is not one car out there that can beat the Spec-V i told him that the Si and ITR has Vtec and 160-195bhp he said it don't matter we put all of it to the test and the Spec-V was the fastest even he said faster than a WRX i said forget it i'm not even gonna go deep in to some serious stuff. And he said the only car on this lot can beat the Spec-V is the V-6 240hp 3.5SE Altima, and that he has tooken it up to 137mph with alot of room left to floor. It can beat V-8's with ease and put them to ashame. I just walked off.
 
HAHAHA triton. I love dealers, they are so full of s***. I went to a subaru dealer and I was arguing with him about the WRX, ITR and RSX type S. He says this: "In your RSX S, you take a corner at 140 MPH, the car will roll right over. In the WRX, it will handle it just fine" I nearly laughed my ass off. If anyone can make a WRX take a corner at 140 stock, I will get down on my knees and praise you. (Don't try you won't be able to)
 
just to inform you intialREs , not starting nothing but the Type-s can do only 133mph tops. And there's no way a car can take a curve at 90mph+++.
 
 
I just want you to know initialRES that the TYPE-S is hella fast and it only tops at 133mph. That's pretty fast though and 6.71sec to 60mph is quick. Props to Acura. :D
 
That is an interesting site. I have always wanted a bunch of magazines compared side by side. Funny how Car and driver listed 0-60 in 6.1 sec, where as motor trend has it at 7.03. Quite a difference. It proves how bad numbers are in magazines. I don't know how they got that top speed but since it is the only number I have seen, I won't argue with you. Perhaps it is only 133. But I find that 0-60 ordeal very strange.
 
thanx for your comment that kinda makes me feel good cause i just want everybody to know that i'm just informing them to let them know what is right and not getting confused and props to Acura. :D
 
i did a 16,02 @ 88mph like i always do i went on the trac warmed my tires up staged. launch @ around 4000rpm shift @ 6000rpm ( maybe a little powershift )and just do it...

i think practice make perfect because at first ( around 3000km on the ODO ) i went on the 1/4 mile i did around 17,xx and twice i hit 16,8
i went back when i was (around 6000km on the ODO ) and i did 16,8 with 2 or 3 times 16,5

i went back 3 or 4 time between 6000 and 30000... and my last time i did my 16,02 i was around 32000 so i think its more practice than anything else maybe the break in is important also but i have video's of me doing 16,5 or less and i have my time slip with the 16,02 on it and you can come on my board at www.clubprotegequebec.com and ask anyone you want they where there.
