Goodbye Mazda Community

I'm pretty sure the MS3 pulls harder than the Max. Especially from a roll and up to highway speeds, and especailly x2 with some mods. The Maxima has a pretty decent powerplant, but is HEAVY compared to the MS3.

i beg to differ. i thought the same thing about those hefty cars but their vq35's have 290 hp and a much broader powerband and it shows. one night i was going home and saw a police chase in progress in the distance. so i zoom zoomed to see the action in progress and i guess the maxima next to me thought i wanted to boogey, so he gets on the gas and just keeps slowly pulling from me at a steady rate. needless to say i was a bit peeved but props to nissan. they do make some great cars. my mom has a 6spd 03 maxima se model (yes my mom likes to rock the manuals...even has k&n drop in filter and ssp) and my brother has a 6spd 07 altima se, both with vq35's and they friggin rock

yea, atleast in the 98 se, the torque feel right of the line, felt so direct and instantaneous. its more drivable power than ours. it can pretend to be your comfy soft sedan with nice appointments and leg room, yet still be a real drivers car when you want/need it to be

You beg to differ that an MS3 is quicker than the Maxima? Yeah okay..

There are plenty of cars quicker than an MS3 but the Nissan Maxima isn't one of them.

i'm just saying i've personally seen what it can do. i wasn't too thrilled about it myself. but i was bone stock at the time and carrying a full load of passengers so idk. maybe the results were skewed due to excess weight

that might do it... they are certainly not quicker at all stock vs stock. Very nice though, love the new ones. 40K is crazy though, Nissan is not one to hold value well so I would have a really hard time dropping Audi/BMW cash on a Nissan.

^yea for 40k they should have at least put lsd and a proper gearbox with their new sychrorev technology.

but all in all props to strytnyne on the new ride. i don't think you will be dissappointed

i was curious so i looked up some numbers.

2009 nissan curb weight 3579@ 290hp= 12.34/1 weight to horsepower

2008 mazdaspeed 3 curb weight 3153 @ 263= 11.98/1 weight to horsepower

speed 3 0-60@5.9
maxima 0-60@6.3

quarter mile times were very close to each other as well. so really, seat of pants feel? prolly could barely tell a difference. this moves with haste thats for sure. these numbers taken from edmunds. just food for thought.

oh and just for fun, according to car and driver, mazdaspeed 6:
0-to-60-mph time: 5.4 sec
Quarter-mile time: 14.0 sec @ 99 mph :D

i remembered seeing this thread...and well, i also traded in my speed3 for the 2010 maxima w/ sport + tech package. obviously didn't pay sticker for it though.... my wife also got a 2010 370 Z..... the maxima is definitely more mature and what i was looking for in a car...luxury enough and sporty enough...best of both worlds. and like others have said, the 19" wheels look good already so i don't plan on changing them....plus wife would drive this car whenever we have a baby, so i don't wanna mod it....just tint the windows.

Can't much blame you man, I am fighting that same urge to get rid of my speed3 as well, I just don't have time to enjoy the car now that I have two kids..plus the speed is to small for all of us to be comfy, so we drive the 2011Sienna SE around all the time..its not the greatest on gas thats for sure..Im leaning towards a Camry V6 tho..I work for Toyota and get a good discount so it only makes sense to support my job I guess. Hope your old wheels went to a good home!
